Bush repression at its worst
Last night in Central Point, Oregon these three school teachers were ejected from a Bush rally for wearing these "obscene" t shirts

Three Medford school teachers were threatened with arrest and escorted from the event after they showed up wearing T-shirts with the slogan "Protect our civil liberties." All three said they applied for and received valid tickets from Republican headquarters in Medford.

The women said they did not intend to protest. "I wanted to see if I would be able to make a statement that I feel is important, but not offensive, in a rally for my president," said Janet Voorhies, 48, a teacher in training.

“We chose this phrase specifically because we didn't think it would be offensive or degrading or obscene," said Tania Tong, 34, a special education teacher.

1. Does that mean that Bush opposes Civil Liberties?
I mean, we KNOW he does, but is he finally admitting it?

5. arrested for what?
And who threatened them? The police? I wish that they had stood their ground and called the bluff of whoever was threatening them. If they were arrested for attending a rally on public fairgrounds for which they held valid tickets because of their t-shirts, they'd have a fun little lawsuit to bring.

onenote

6. I wonder if the general public understands . . .
just what happens at a Bush rally versus what happens at a Kerry rally . . . I kinda doubt it . . .

7. When Kerry was in Central Point in August
it was a very friendly, peaceful affair. Anyone who wanted to attend was admitted. The organizers handed out free water all during the long wait and during the event. Last night they handed out glow sticks and made the people pay for water after confiscating any water they brought with them. 70 people needed medical treatment because of the heat.

9. So a plea to protect civil liberties is the mark of a democrat?
They were outed as democrats because of these shirts?

What has their party become?

10. How could this be offensive to anyone but a facsist?
Oh, I guess I answered my own question. That's just incredible that a shirt like that could be seen as controversial in any way. Just unbeleivable. :wtf:
