o'neill interview
Edited on Fri Oct-15-04 12:25 AM by indyjones1938
Koppel dropped the bombshell that one of the swiftees, armed with a television camera, had already visited this remote Vietnamese peasant village months ago to extract "incriminating" testimony against John Kerry.

2. You're right. Wonder why we never saw any of that footage?
Guess they didn't get what they were hoping for, huh?

A man in a town about twenty miles away from me found his name on the swift boat veterans affidavit and he never gave them his permission to do so. It was in the local paper several months ago.

... "Kerry is memorialized in Vietnam as a war hero" bulls--t.

If my information is correct, Kerry is in the Vietnam war memorial because of his work WELL AFTER THE END OF HOSTILITIES to normalize relations between the countries.

Anybody?

edit: Crap! My recording of Nightline cut-off at 31 minutes, before the end.

10. Yep, the picture they're talking about
is him in 1993 meeting with Vietnamese dignitaries, around the time they were working on opening relations.

I believe his picture is in the section about war protesters though.

Hey, if someone helped stop a war in YOUR country, don't you think you'd be happy enough with them to put their picture up somewhere?

Over at the Swift Vets site they're wondering how ABC News knew there was a story down there, but they don't seem to care who this person was.

(On edit: Actually, it seems the theory is that somebody from the Kerry campaign went down there to set this all up. :eyes: )

7. This is the opening we need. If someone can find out who the Swiftie
was who visited the remote Vietnamese village, with a cameraman, then we could find out who was financing this little visit. You can bet that the Swiftie's weren't paying for it. That kind of trek takes a chunk of change, and logistics and getting through the red-tape of getting into Vietnam. Koppel said it was very difficult for ABC News to get permission to get in. Sounds to me like this may have been a US government sponsored visit from the Swiftie and cameraman.

11. Ah, THAT is why Koppel made his little speech about how they

would have shown whatever they found in their investigation. I haven't watched the first of the show yet so I didn't catch the significance, it just seemed a little strange.

After all the weirdness from O'Neill, it didn't seem as strange as it normally would have, though. He so badly wants to take John Kerry down and has no chance. Sad way to spend your life.
