I truly believe John O'Neill has severe mental problems...
and I'm not saying that to be flippant. Forget what he says about Kerry, it's disturbing to watch his behavior in general.

1. He still gets airtime?
I thought he was fully discredited by now.

3. Of course he has mental problems! No sane person would behave this way.
The tragedy is that it is very likely that his mental problems were at least exacerbated if not caused by his service in Vietnam.

How many John O'Neills is the U.S. creating right now in Iraq?

4. It's clear he is obsessed with John Kerry. I wanted Koppel to

cut him off long before he did, but he kept giving him rope and O'Neill kept winding it around his neck.

7. I'm glad Koppel let him hang himself...
and the more airtime this clown is given, the more he discredits himself.

5. I liked what my dad said
He said he's like KErry's Kenneth Starr.

Like Starr, O'Neil has been a step behind KErry. Kerry came back, became nationally well known. He was eloquent and kicked his ass on the Dick Cavett Show. He went on to become a successful prosecuter and eventually a senator.

Meanwhile O'Neil came back, was soon forgotten by the public and settled down to a private practice...no notable accomplishments...and just a lot of bitterness and jealousy.

Similar with Starr - he went to GWU while Clinton went to Geoergetown. Then Clinton became a Rhodes Scholar and eventually went to Yale Law School. I have no idea where Starr went to LS, but Yale is ranked by almost all as the number 1 law school. Clinton then became governor and then president. Starr became the special prosecuter and probably felt jealousy for all those years.

Those republicans are pathetic, jealous, vindictive, spiteful bastards.

all he had he put it on the line to defeat Kerry. So many lies and still it isn't working. Don't be surprised if he commits suicide and I hope Secret Service keeps him away from Kerry

13. It is a 30 year obsession....
O'Neill has never gotten over looking like a little puss bucket when he debated Kerry on the Dick Cavett show in the 70's. Nixon's man hand picked O'Neill to be "their boy" in their campaign to help smear Kerry. You really should read the transcript of that debate. Even back then Kerry looked presidential.

17. Obsession. . .. . . . obsession. . . . . . obsession. . . . ..
Going out on a limb here, but there's something about John O'Neill that has bothered me.

I readily admit I have no experience or expertise, but watching O'Neill tonight on Nightline and the couple of small clips from the 70s on Frontline, I just got this strange and very strong impression that O'Neill is gay and in massive, long-time denial (Roy Cohn????), that he has obsessed about Kerry in more ways than one for over 30 years, that everything in him has turned to hate. It's personal, and it's not just about Vietnam and the war and the atrocities. This is unrequited infatuation on well-aged steroids.

O'Neill is one very sick dude. And sick dudes are dangerous.

Tansy Gold, very tired and probably very wrong

16. found this in a blog, sounds right
Behind the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are veteran corporate media consultant and Texas Republican activist Merrie Spaeth, who is listed as the group's media contact; eternal Kerry antagonist and Houston attorney John E. O'Neill, law partner of Spaeth's late husband, Tex Lezar; and retired Rear Adm. Roy Hoffman, a cigar-chomping former Vietnam commander once described as "the classic body-count guy" who "wanted hooches destroyed and people killed."

Someone do a poll: Do you think that today's smear tactics
make watergate look like a little girl's tea party?
