I like William Schnieder of CNN
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 03:28 PM by chamilto
He's one of the few on any network who I think is genuinely non-partisan.

He just said that Bush needs to fire up his base regain his lost momentum, which requires him to bash Kerry. The problem is that moderates don't like to hear such partisan stuff, especially from the President himself. It turns-off the undecides.

That made me smile.

ON EDIT ***Yes, I was not aware that he was a AEI Fellow, but I have to say that I don't see it in his reports. I really don't. Perhaps he has satanic power or something.***

26. I thought we debunked the AEI thing a few months back...
Isn't the AEI William Scheneider an academic--a different guy completely. I remember reading his CV a few months ago and it was definitely not the CNN guy. I could be wrong, though. The problem with the CNN guy is that he speaks as if the electorate are simpletons (morans). He tends to frame things the way a typical freeper would see them. On the other hand, he is not a pure partisan--hence his calling last night's debate a clear win for Kerry.

He's a fellow at the extremely partisan American Enterprise Institute and organization devoted to promoting the corporate plutocracy's interests via manipulatioon of the news media.

11. WOW, I can tell you don't know anything about the man!
He is without a doubt one of the MOST partisan frauds on the airwaves today. Do yourself a major favor, assume from the get go that 100% of the talking heads you watch on todays networks are repukes at their core then watch for them to prove otherwise. Most of the current talking heads are hand picked at the corporate level to further the corporate/white house agenda.

And, of course, by watching you drive up their marketshare -- thence their "value".

Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 03:53 PM by realcountrymusic
My first measure of the partisanship of a "reporter:" they talk continually about what the pResident "needs" to do. I almost never hear this about Kerry. It's as if they are hometown sportscasters urging their team on with advice and secure that the majority of their audience shares the same perspective. Candy Crapley and John "Look at that Hair" whatshisface are prime examples of this. Both, last night, parrotted the Rove lines about what Bush "needed to do," implying that we should be rooting for the B/C campaign to pull it together.

They also manage to work in a lot of editorial commentary with this device, under the guise of "reporting" the campaign's spin: "Well, Bush's people believe he NEEDS to drive home the point that John Kerry is a flip-flopping babykilling gay-loving take-your-machine-gun-away tax-you-to-death weak-on-TERRA LIBERAL from Massa-Kennedy-chusetts. And they believe they can do that over the next few days on the campaign trail. Reporting live from the Bush/Cheney party room for media whores, this is John Whatshisface. Back to you Wolf."

Watch for it. Mark the words "need to" and "have to." You'll see what I'm talking about.

you oughta do a few searches here and find the threads about so many of his 'commentaries' which we assail on a daily basis.

I personally called CNN and spent 10 minutes haranguing the poor asshole who picked up the phone about the grandfatherly comment that Osama wants Kerry to win the election.

I would not stop until I was completely finished. The guy on the line was overwhelmed and told me that no one had ever expressed that type of dissatisfaction to him before. I asked HIM if this were his first day on the job and that eh better get used to it becasue we're coming at him from DU.

He was a Harvard prof at the same time as my dad in the seventies. He used to come by the house all the time. One of the wittiest people I ever met, I have to say.

Haven't spoken to him in probably 20 years or more, but I still get a kick out of seeing him on the tube. I agree w/ you, more often than not his comments seem to carry some insight.

32. He does seem non-partisan at times.
But he has some VERY anti-Dem things, and oftentimes does atte

He has good days and bad days. But I find it weird that CNN's Senior Political Analyst has very close ties to a veeery-pro-Bush neoconservative think tank, and its hard to trust the man because of it.

Same situation with Candy Crowley. One has to wonder why she's covering the Kerry campaign, when she clearly has deep disdain for Democrats and Kerry himself -- she tries to cover it up, but not nearly as well as Bill Schneider does.
