Did The "Kerry Is A Liberal" Theme Fall On Its Face?
This whole Mary Cheney thing seems to be more than just desperation - it seems like a conceit that the big guns (Kerry is left of Teddy) bounced harmlessly off the challenger's chest while he stood arms akimbo.

The liberal theme itself seemed an indication that the flip-flopper thing had run its natural course.

What's left: running on Bush's record?

(Is it just me or can you smell fear in the air?)

1. I like the response, so far.
saw a DNC ad this morning saying "right-wing Repubs in Congress". I think the ads should start saying "right-wing extremists".

2. Don't forget:
Kerry has been the most consistently liberal senator of the past 20 years.

And he flip-flops all the time.

Now hold those two beliefs in your head at the same time, and you too can be a Republican.

7. Wait a second. An idea is, like, forming in my head

If Kerry is, like, consistantly liberal how can he be flip flopper? Obviously, the entire liberal movement is totally flip flopping all hte time. One minute we are for worker safety the next minute we are for environmental protection. It all makes perfect sense.

9. And, furthermore, Bush accused Kerry of doing nothing about healthcare...
Everybody knows that Liberals care about things like healthcare. Which is it? Is he a Liberal or not? LOL.

3. I think so
And I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that we've begun to really fight back. Huge marches in the street, moveon.org, Air America, huge voter registration drives. We're no longer afraid to admit we're liberals, which is what the conservatives were always counting on.

4. What's working is the fear of terrorism
Bush still has people convinced that he's a "strong leader" in the war on terrorism. That's why an ad showing Bush vs Bush (claiming last night that he never said Osama Bin Laden is unimportant contrasted with video of him saying exactly that), run over and over and over again, could make an impact. Just a 30-second spot, shown a million times over the next two weeks.

6. Yes.
It just sounded like name calling. He wasn't saying anything significant. He avoided talking about the issues.

8. People want more than a slogan in these debates
A slogan is what you get with a 15 second commercial. Bush is, of course, in his elements with quick, dismissive slogans. But he came to a gunfight with a knife.

12. I could hear the crickets
The argument doesn't work because liberals know he's not liberal enough and right-wing folks think Rush Scumball is probably too liberal, so who is this argument for? Undecided voters? I think they're more worried about being outsourced and having community college be Bush's solution.
