What did you love about Kerry's performance?
I'm not going to respond to the negative threads because it just brings them up to the top again. So instead I will start a thread here with what I enjoyed most:

The Tony Soprano crack. That was awesome.

His explanation about not letting his faith legislate what other people should believe.

Pointing out that, again, Bush didn't answer the Rove v. Wade question.

2. i like his overall attitude. how he seems in command and knows the issues
well. he is very comfortable with himself. it's impossible to see his debate performances and believe the right wing attacks thrown at him of being weak, unsure etc.

15. Someone actually defended Affirmative action
That is just fucking amazing in my opinion and yes it is sad that I would be amazed by this.

4. Family Values
I'm tired of politicians who talk about family values who don't know the value of the family.

Go KERRY!

The ones that harp on it the most are usually the ones that are cheating on their wives with hookers and ignoring their kids.

8. I've heard that one before...
was that a CLINTON? That's what I thought at the time. I LOVED it, either way.

I think Candy Crowley may have cried tonight.

7. Minimum wage answer was great...
but so much more, SO MUCH MORE! He took Bush to SCHOOL on damn near every issue mentioned tonight, and there weren't even any asked about the Environment, or such other excellent "gimme's."

Kerry was poised, focused, stuck to the facts, and didn't take the bait on anything; gently corrected dubya when he was wrong, and never once said "he's lying," even though it was obvious dubya WAS lying and Kerry KNEW it.

He was simply wonderful. He showed me every single thing Gore did wrong in 2000 while he was sighing in his pancake makeup.

Anyone who still says we made the wrong choice in John Kerry must simply enjoy losing.

He was AWE INSPIRING.

Anyone who says different, meet me outside later so I can kick your ass.

(that's a joke, damn it!)

9. I liked the way Kerry referenced the $89 billion tax cut.
He can fit that into several different talking points, like cutting afterschool programs for 500,000 kids. Anyone remember what else he said about that?

10. When he said he wouldn't let Bush lecture him...I thought that was
so COMMANDING!! He basically cut Bush down to size, it was great!!!

11. His Answers built momentum and lead right to the point where he would
go for the jugular and just nail Bush! Each time he answered he would lay out his answers and his case with perfect precision then right at the end he would just take it right at Bush in a way everyone could understand. I think he showed that his values and his religion had lead him to work for the average guy and that was very touching. He made me proud to be a Democrat!

12. The minimum wage.
Kerry was forceful and unwavering - and if some business owners have a problem with supporting what is right - well Kerry chose what is right rather than what would please everyone while Bush Waffled and Wimped and Wavered. You gotta like that.

13. His honesty
When he said he wouldn't be able to stop the outsourcing of jobs is just one example. He went on to say he thought he could stop the bleeding, in effect, but he didn't have a cure. I think that honesty is what a lot of people are looking for in a politician and I think Kerry showed himself to be the more honest of the two candidates. Hell, if Bush was honest this race wouldn't be close. Kerry would carry all 50 states.

16. The closing statement
was how a President should sound when addressing the American people.

Mr. Kerry My fellow Americans, as you heard from Bob Schieffer a moment ago, America is being tested by division. More than ever we need to be united as a country. And like Franklin Roosevelt, I don't care whether an idea is a Republican idea or a Democrat idea. I just care whether it works for America and whether it's going to make us stronger.

These are dangerous times. I believe I offer tested, strong leadership that can calm the waters of a troubled world. And I believe that we can, together, do things that are within the grasp of Americans. We can lift our schools up. We can create jobs that pay more than the jobs we're losing overseas. We can have health care for all Americans. We can further the cause of equality in our nation.

Let me just make it clear: I will never allow any country to have a veto over our security. Just as I fought for our country as a young man, with the same passion, I will fight to defend this nation that I love.

And with faith in God and with conviction in the mission of America, I believe that we can reach higher. I believe we can do better. I think the greatest possibilities of our country - our dreams and our hopes - are out there just waiting for us to grab onto them.

And I ask you to embark on that journey with me. I ask you for your trust. I ask you for your help. I ask you to allow me the privilege of leading this great nation of ours, of helping us to be stronger here at home and to be respected again in the world. And most of all, to be safer forever.

Thank you, good night and God bless the United States of America.

<I could do without the God bless America crap, but we're clearly not quite grown up enough to do without it just yet.>

17. I liked his answer to the "homosexuality" question
And I loved how he talked about his faith:

"And I think that everything you do in public life has to be guided by your faith, affected by your faith, but without transferring it in any official way to other people.

"That's why I fight against poverty. That's why I fight to clean up the environment and protect this earth.

"That's why I fight for equality and justice. All of those things come out of that fundamental teaching and belief of faith."

18. That was absolutely beautiful
He is a true Christian, IMHO. He understands what it's SUPPOSED to be about. ARE YOU LISTENING GEORGE?! It's not about telling others that they're going to hell. It's not about forcing your religion down everyone else's throat. It's not about claiming family values but not living them. It's about having faith and taking care of others and the planet.

WAY TO GO JFK!
