Transcript and video of Bush Lie on Osama
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 12:48 AM by Thurston Howell IV
AMERICAblog tracked down the portion of the transcript from the third debate in which Bush lies about Osama Bin Laden and then provided a link to the original White House Transcript of the news conference in which Bush says he wasn't concerned about Osama Bin Laden.

KERRY: Yes. When the president had an opportunity to capture or kill Osama bin Laden, he took his focus off of them, outsourced the job to Afghan warlords, and Osama bin Laden escaped.

Six months after he said Osama bin Laden must be caught dead or alive, this president was asked, "Where is Osama bin Laden?" He said, "I don't know. I don't really think about him very much. I'm not that concerned."

We need a president who stays deadly focused on the real war on terror.

SCHIEFFER: Mr. President?

BUSH: Gosh, I just don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. It's kind of one of those exaggerations.

Then see what Bush actually said, taken from the White House transcript:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/03/20020313-8.html

Reporter: But don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive?

BUSH: (On Osama bin Laden) Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him."

Even Better: Pictures trump words. Atrios at Eschaton provides us with the link to the video clip where Bush says he's not concerned about Osama Bin Laden.

If this isn't all over the place tomorrow, make sure you pass it on to all your friends. This is another blow to Bush's credibility. Being backed up by video, just three weeks before the election, makes it even more significant.

7. I think he thought he was debating Al Gore again at this point...
"Gosh, I just don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. It's kind of one of those......exaggerations."

Hey bushy*, the "exaggerator" scam is from the 2000 debates, remember this year we're going with super-librul and/or flip-flopper.

Idiot couldn't even get THAT right.

10. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice. I gave him half a point for
that 'cuz he really zinged Al, and another half point 'cuz Al had no response. Then in my afterdebate scoring, I had to deduct 2004 points 'cuz, although it was a good zinger and he hit it with perfect inflection and emphasis, it was 4 YEARS too late!!
