2. That is one of the most important issues for me.
They asked one in the town hall why not now. He could have hit Bush on global warming, on his more mercury for fish policy, on his crappy sky bill. I guess that one was too much of a gimmee for Kerry.

3. Excuse me, just spewed a bunch of particulates!
Guess the environment doesn't mean much if we're in the end times.

4. Nothing on environment
Edited on Wed Oct-13-04 09:55 PM by SOS
Nothing on energy independence, nothing on housing, nothing on the "drug war", nothing on transportation, nothing on the death penalty, nothing on agriculture, nothing on alcohol/drug treatment, nothing on domestic violence, nothing on AIDS, nothing on public assistance, nothing on public works, nothing on railroads, nothing on the electric grid, nothing on labor unions, nothing on.......anything.

Instead we got 90 minutes of gay marriage, affirmative action and abortion with a big helping of "faith".

Kerry did well, as usual, but the questions were a big load of garbage!

But stem cells never got to be addressed, sadly.

9. TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!
I just completed a survey an ripped into these
so called "Debates". They were NOTHING MORE THAN
90 MINUTE CAMPAIGN ADS!

The fact that NOTHING was mentioned about the Environment
has got me more upset than even some of the MANY other
missed issues.

What about CRIME in America, what about the DOMESTIC
ISSUES we were promised would come in this debate?!

I feel bad for the undecided voters out there who
tuned in to help them make up their minds... the
Committee on Presidential Debates FAILED THEM HORRIBLY!

11. Where are the Liberals and GREENS?!

Are people just TOO upset about 4 years of Bush
to bother pushing the important issues related
to the Environment--our planet--and our ULTIMATE
SURVIVAL?!

This just dumbfounds me... WE SHOULD BE UP IN
ARMS DEMANDING AN END TO FOREIGN RELIANCE ON OIL!

What happened to all those 'damn tree hugging hippies'
I've come to expect and rely on?! :)

Perhaps they were gunned down in the streets after
the assualt weapons ban was lifted... or became a
victim of robbery or assault and have since retreated
to the 'safety' of their home to escape the high
crime rates...

Or perhaps, they're trying to find work in this
LOVELY economy?

But whatever the case...don't worry people... Bush
has made it quite clear that EDUCATION is the answer...

Yeah... we've been Educating people on the effects of
fossil fuels for awhile now... we're doing real good! :/

12. Now you know what it's like posting every day in Environment/Energy
Not to be snarky or anything . . .

This was the most appalling omission I could have imagined. Not ONE question on the environment, not ONE question on energy policy. Instead, lots of God talk, and a tip of the hat to the wives.

Time's coming when we are going to all be talking about these issues. I suppose it won't be until an 850 millibar storm flattens Miami, or changes the course of the Mississippi River, or perhaps when another summer of '88 takes care of the corn and wheat crops.

Plenty of concern will then be manifest from all corners, complete with angry shouts of "Why didn't anyone tell me about this".

To dust off Greek mythology, does anyone here remember what Cassandra said to Priam as Troy began to burn? She said "Too fucking late, Dad - you should have listened."

18. Maybe that was on purpose by Scheifer
He and Bush have been golf buddies ya know. The environment and development of alternative energy are topics that Kerry FUCKING OWNS. Bush would have been totally out of his element and Scheifer knew it.

14. I share your concern about the environment
but I've heard Kerry talk about the environment before. He has lots of plans that sound great to me. It sucks that no one is talking about it. The fact that it wasn't asked makes me think right-wingers thought up all the questions. They don't give a F____ about the environment.

15. Always take the long view
I think I'm quoting Carl Sagan there. 100 years from now, historians will look back at the ignorance of the Bush administration and they'll see the Kerry administration as the beginning of an effort that our great-grandchildren will still be working on: to live at peace with the planet.

I too was waiting for the environment question. I'll bet that Schieffer left it out because there was an environment question in debate two.

That's all we environmentalists get friends, one question. And it's always the last thing mentioned in a string that includes "health care, education, crime,..."

But for me, it's the first issue and the last issue and it is related to every issue in between.

Bob Schieffer is a jerk. He tried to may it about Gay Marriage and Kerry.
