My state has early voting, which began today. I have often voted early, and enjoyed the relative ease of the task – you park, sign in and vote – the whole process taking no more than five minutes. Not today.
I was at the end of a very long line a ten minute walk in the park becoming a thirty minute marathon. Politicking, of course is not allowed at the polling place, but I can offer you a few observations.
It was a mixed crowd; urban professionals and soccer moms, students and seniors, town and country. They were talking about everything, except of course who they voting for. Curiosity nearly killing this cat, after I cast my ballot, I cruised the parking lot for a very unscientific exit poll -- checking the bumper stickers on cars.
I didn’t find many… of the two hundred or so vehicles, only four were decorated, and those were evenly split between the Bushbots and Kerriacs.
Understand I live in a red county in a red state. In normal years a Democrat could run unopposed and still lose by ten points. But the turnout has never been this high this early. Maybe this is not a “normal” year. Maybe.
