We must not stop when we get Kerry into the White House. We have to keep fighting to keep the media in line and help deflect attacks from the RW. We were complacent during the Clinton years and we allowed the media to smear Dems and sway public opinion. Granted, Clinton did a very stupid thing getting a blow job. But we let the media blow (no pun intended) that out of proportion. We let the media ignore the good things Clinton did and harp on the bad. We let the right wing bury us because we didn't fight back hard enough.
And don't even get me started with Gore. I'll admit that I believed the "I invented the internet" bullshit until I read the truth about what he said. I allowed myself to get discouraged about his "sighs" during the debate. I didn't take to the streets when I knew that election was a total scam.
Well, no more.
I'm not going to be a blind devotee of Kerry. If he fucks up I'm going to say so, believe me. But if the media starts smearing him with falsehoods or blowing his mistakes out of proportion, if the RW is allowed to take their shots and spread their lies, you better believe that I'm going to attack back. We cannot yield an inch to the RW, we've all seen what they can do. No lie is too outrageous, no manipulation too devious.
We can celebrate a Kerry win in a few weeks (although I personally won't really start celebrating until Bush actually vacates in January), but our work doesn't stop there. We have to be committed to change in the country if we truly want to see it happen.
