They're setting it up to throw this election to congress
Between the stories about Maine's electoral vote process, the ballot initiative in Colorado, and (in case anyone noticed) John Fund's new book about voter fraud (saw him on Dobbs last night) I believe that the Bush's new tack is to get this election questioned so much that it is thrown to the House of Representatives.... 3 guesses who wins then.

1. Can someone please tell me what a split delegation would do?
that state's one vote in the House would mirror the popular vote of that state perhaps?

2. I thought I had heard one point that it would be the newly elected house
Is that true?

3. Yes
but there is no chance of taking back the House. If we take the Senate however we can force Edwards as the VP, removing the far more dangerous Cheney from the equation.

4. The Courts Before the House
It's far more likely to (like 2000) be thrown to the courts before the house. For it to go to the house, we have to have a tied electoral college. And even if that were the case, we would more than likely find judicial challenges to variables such as Colorado's planned distribution, or other such EV schemes in front of the court before seeing the House vote for a tie breaker.

AS for whether it's the new or old house - I don't know. The house is en-paneled before the new president is sworn in - but don't know if it's before the college's results are certified or not.

5. You know as well as I do
If it's anyway close the Republicans will steal it and the Democrats in the Senate will let them.

7. The Dems in America won't let them this time.

Those of us who felt helpless to stop the train wreck last time are far more motivated than we were before we saw what a total, complete, unmitigated and dangerous asshole * really is. FAR, FAR worse than I dreamed, and I thought he would be a total fuckup in 2000.

See you in Washington.
