In this thread, we list our predictions on Bush*'s debate tactics...
...for the third debate tommorow. Here are some of mine:

- He talks real fast on a few questions like he did during the second debate to stave off the earpiece rumors.
- He keeps trying to bring foreign policy issues, such as the $87 billion and how he thinks you shouldn't say certain things because of the mexed missages that it will send to our troops and other members of the Coalition of the Willing. He ignores or fights back with the moderator when breaking these rules.
- He brings up the lumber company.

This along with several very predictable things like justifying his economic policy by "letting people keep more of their money".

3. This is domestic, so he will weep.
He is going to cry, I guarantee you. Whether it's for Selma Stephenson of Detroit, who's here tonight. Selma raised four sons on welfare, but then she went back to school and now she's a registered nurse. Or Bart Dzivi of Oregon. Bart lost his leg in Iraq, but he knows it was the right war at the right time and the right war for America. Bush will weep big, heavy crocodile tears tonight.

5. He throws a tantrum to gain attention when things
aren't going his way.(but if he has to stay behind the podium, this will be hard to gain the full effect)

He brings up the 1.9 million McJobs that were created in the past 12 months.

He refers to Kerry's 20 years in the Senate and the fact he has "no record". (Kerry needs to challenge him on this)

10. uses self depricating humor to attempt to disarm critiques
again uses self depricating humor to disarm critiques of his lack of intelligence, hot temper, and stubborness
he has already used his new found religion as an excuse to forgive all his mistakes of his "youth", i.e. before he turned 40yrs old.

Checking the Facts, in Advance

By PAUL KRUGMAN
Published: October 12, 2004

It's not hard to predict what President Bush, who sounds increasingly desperate, will say tomorrow. Here are eight lies or distortions you'll hear, and the truth about each:

15. "That liberal over there wants your money!!"
* will say: "My oppponent (no names) has big plans and no way to pay for it. His plan costs 2 Billion.

Kerry's response: "Mine will cost 2 billion that I will pay for by rolling back, NOT INCREASING, taxes for the wealthiest 1%. Mr President - your plan will cost 3 Billion. How will you pay for it? By running up our already historic deficit? What's the interest on 3 trillion Mr President? Because that's compounding daily....

* says: "My opponent supports trial lawyers who are forcing OBGYN's to move, and raising healthcare."

Kerry: "Lawsuits counts for less than 1% of healthcare costs. What's really costing us money? (Insert names og healtcare/drug companies that gave money to *). They paid for your re-election. Is that fair to the American people? You keep repeating the same story-lawsuits are at fault. I'm asking you to level with our audience tonight, will you?"

*: "We created 1.9 million new jobs...on the right track...9/11 changed everything...war on terror expensive...."

Kerry: "9/11 did change things, but you've had 3 years to turn it around. How many of those 1.9 million jobs are low paying? You tried to categorize fast food jobs as manufacturing. Why can't you level with us for once? Things don't always go well, that doesn't give you an excuse to mislead the public. In fact it's your duty and your obligation to tell the truth at all times. Please Mr. President, we deserve the truth, and believe me we can handle it. My plan...(PLEASE list specifics Mr. Kerry, las debate it was "I have a plan", you need to spell it out, now's your chance.)

* cannot memorize facts. He will trot out the exact same things as the last 2. When he tries to steer the debate to Iraq/Terror - Kerry needs to say "You had 2 debates to explain your mistakes, lets focus on the domestic issues, America deserves that Mr. President. I offered to have more debates, you declined. Let's use what little time we have left in this debate to talk about how to fix what's been broken the last 4 years." Please vist JohnKerry.com * and OilSlick have NEVER mentioned going to *'s website, why? Because there are no plans listed. Only - tax custs, we keep you safe.

Can Kerry say - "9/11 happened on your watch. You ignored intelligence (quote brifing memo). How are we supposed to feel confident? You opposed 9/11 commission, you opposed Homeland scurity. THose are facts, without political pressure we'd have neither today. How are we supposed to feel safe with you in charge?"

16. FEEDBACK for both candidates
I know I am no one to give Kerry advice - especially cause he's kicking butt - but here's a little feedback anyhow.

Dear Kerry:
1) When you get asked a question, answer that question first before going to something else (in the last debate, you digressed first then got to the question. That is ok for most people who have an attention span, but for those without, such as many undecideds and Bush voters, it can cause confusion).

2) In the first debate you said: More US soldiers were killed in Iraq in July that in June, in August than in July, in September that in August. That made a strong point. For this debate, how about, less jobs were created in July than in June, less were created in August than in July, and less in September than in August. (I believe the numbers bear that out).

To Bush:

1) If a joke gets no laughs from the audience, don't laugh yourself, it appears smug.

2) If you didn't understand the question, ask for clarification rather than just spewing bullshit.

3) Don't speak over the moderator; maybe running over others is acceptable in your White House, but most Americans still believe in common courtesy.

17. He'll turn up the "good ol' boy" and try to be a charmer
He knows hes got only one out. Hes hoping his likability will reign supreme. The liberal label will be repeated 35 times. The "you can run" rhetoric will be said 20 times.
And he will force himself to be bright cheerful and funny . The best he can hope for is to make Kerry be laughed at. Thats his goal.

although not necessarily in that order.

And definitely Terra and his willful misinterpretation of Kerry's nuisance quote.

world is better off and how he did the right thing. He will sound like a broken record.
