I was a member of Veterans Against the War in Vietnam.* It took a lot of guts for Kerry to speak out against the war--and it made a big difference to have someone so poised and articulate take the lead.

It was not an act of betrayal: it was an act of desperate loyalty to the men whose country had betrayed them by sending them to a moral hell of random, mindless pain and death. That--more than his actions under fire--makes him a hero in my book.

* Not to be confused with Vietnam Veterans Against the War (I did not serve in Vietnam.)

1. Are you a WWII vet?
I'm a young man who's very interested in WWII, so I'd love to hear your story.

If you served in Korea I'd like to hear about that too, but I'm less knowledgeable about that war.

My Grandfather and two of my uncles served in WWII, but they all died before I could ever get to talk to them about it.

3. Kerry WAS a hero
I am not a vet. I'm an Air Force brat and most of my extended "family" are military. I'm a rabid supporter of our military and of veterans. Three of my closest friends in the world are vets of Viet Nam, the Gulf War and one of Afghanistan.

Kerry was a hero, standing up for vets, not betraying them.

It is the bushgang who have betrayed them at every step, cutting VA benefits, cutting combat pay, cutting family support. Bastards. bushturds.

4. True: Bush has screwed the troops
Sent 'em into harms way under false pretenses.
Failed to send enough to secure the country.
Failed to provide appropriate equipment.
Condoned torture (which will haunt us for years to come) and then prosecutes only at the lowest level.

AND THEN THE TWIT HAS THE FREAKIN' NERVE TO TELL US HE KNOWS IT'S HARD WORK BECAUSE HE WATCHES IT ON TV!!!!

Sorry, I got a little wound up there--but the truth is I'M PISSED!

:grr:
