We can't win the war on terror?
Bush really said that, I just saw it in a Kerry ad. How must that make the troops feel, knowing the CiC has them fighting a war he doesn't believe we can win? Are the terrorists going to just attack at will now, since we can't win this war? Has he been lying about winning the war on terror all along?

(How about we repeat this, instead of the stupid Kerry stuff for a change?)

2. Totally NOT the fucking point
Point being, why the hell don't we spread anti-Bush stuff instead of acting like a bunch of chicken littles, one more time. Sometimes what comes out of the top end doesn't mean any more than what comes out of the bottom end. How about writing a letter about Bush and his lack of belief in winning the war on terror, to hurt his campaign, no matter what the fuck you think??? Hmmm???

3. How can you win fighting an abstract thought?
Kill some off and a few more pop up unless they stop thinking how they think it will just keep on.Look at this. Russia got rid of churches in 1918 and when the USSR fell they started right up and it was 80 years. So the thought just stayed underground. Look how long the Irish and Brits kept at it. I knew people who had come to this country is the 20's and they will still telling their kids to hate the English and I bet the English were doing the same. I just knew a lot of the Irish. They would talk about the Black and Tans like it was yesterday. And who in this country would put up with Iraq moving in on us? We just are not going to kill all these terrorist and some will get to us.

4. Read #2
This isn't a debate about the goddamned war on terror for chrissake. It's about winning the fucking election and using Bush's statement against him instead of focusing on Kerry's statement. I'm sick of people cutting their own throats with their own inability to focus their attention where it'll do some good. Put Bush on the defensive, because you can and for no other reason. No matter what your personal opinions are. Can you do that?

5. Don't hold your breath. Most DU'ers, like partisans on the other side

Are postmodern fundamentalists -- they are incapable of seeing things from anyone else's perspective but their own. That's why they never stop to ask themselves why there is no John Kennedy or Teddy Roosevelt in either party, nor a speechwriter capable of touching universal themes that neither side believes exist. They only believe in their own opinions.

In this case, that means they don't even know where to begin to fight Bush. They can't imagine that throwing Bush's words in his face

(we can't win the war on terror)

(you can't send mixed messages and be president)

(need some wood?)

could POSSIBLY damage him because they incorrectly assume that everyone else is just as detached and ironic and well-informed as they are.

Again, this is why we got no great speechwriters, no common themes that touch the hearts of the people on the street. And neither do the Repubs, thank goodness.

Lemme guess, you were joking about that Kerry ad, right? No way would Shrum be so pro-active. He is determined to lose this election for Kerry just like all the others he's managed. Kerry can't be a closer if the people around him (including DUers totally oblivious to the damaging nature of certain * remarks) don't know what closing entails.
