Idea about the Sinclair broadcast; should Kerry go on O'Reilly that night?
I've posted before asking whether Kerry should have appeared on the Factor; maybe he should go on the same time as that broadcast and refute the charges brought up by this documentary. As much as I hate O'Reilly, JK could come out ahead on this issue...

1. Only if broadcast live
I don't trust O'Liely to do an honest edit. But I do think Kerry could handle any question that came his way. So if it's broadcast live then O'Liely can't mis-represent Kerry. Perhaps also demand a one or two minute 'closing statement'.

2. Should Sinclair have to declare the airtime as a campaign
contribution? Fairness doctrine or not, it still seems like a valuable donation to the Bush campaign.

I like your thought regarding going to O'Reilly the same night -- would split audience and at least give him some direct access to the wingnuts (for what that's worth).

5. If The Time Is Sold, No.
A 527 can buy the time and it's considered political, but not charged to the Repugnicans or do they have to offer any equal time to the Democrats or their affiliated 527s. Now I'd like to see a MoveOn approach them and try to buy the equivelent time and see how Sinclair reacts. If they refuse, then there's FEC violations. But don't hold your breath...the FEC won't lift a finger for months.

This does remind me of what occured with RKO General...a company that owned a lot of stations and got involved in money laundering during the Nixon days. The FCC, under the Carter Administration, not only fined the company severely, but forced them to sell their stations. Folks in New York may remember WOR...or KHJ in Los Angeles. RKO's dirty tricks with Nixon eventually cost 'em big.

3. According to Sinclair's comment line....
...they have invited Kerry to appear on the program, and we are being asked to call him and urge him to do it.

Sounds to me like this thing could be a very ugly free-for-all -- pretense of it being "news" aside. Why it can't be stopped is beyond me.

6. No! Kerry should not let these goddamn pigs dictate his actions...
he should not accept Sinclair's invitation for a "rebuttal" nor should he appear on O'Reilly's ego fest.
Sinclair shareholders will stop the propaganda from being broadcast (unless they want the stock price to drop below the basement)

7. I'd like to see a blockbuster opponent
in the same time spot, something everyone would like to see. I don't suppose we can get the NFL to air a championship match, but maybe a concert by superstars for Kerry?

8. O'reilly wants Kerry to lose, he tries to act fair but he isn't
look at how he pushed the whole swift boat liars thing. he would put in a few good words about how kerry is a good patriot. but he would let the liars go on and on for weeks on his show and spew their shit. he even said once that he knew kerry wasn't telling the truth about cambodia.

when the focus turned to bush's national guard service instead of airing the actual charges that he did with the swift boat liars he just said we have to move on. and he tries to equate the bush and kerry's service now. he tried to do it on letterman until letterman responded with an ass kicking answer about how he didn't have to go to vietnam because of certain people that went , some of them being people he knew and how many of them didn't come back. he contrasted that with people who avoided going to vietnam by going in the national guard.

9. THE DNC HAS FILED A LAWSUIT!!!!!!
They have filed against SINCLAIR with the FEC...those bums are going DOWN!

It is important that EVERYONE complain to the FEC--they are the arbiters in this issue. Sinclair may listen if you say the word boycott, but they'll probably blow you off. It's the FEC that needs to be hammered on this issue.

10. NO to O'Lielly
No Democrat should appear on any of the FOX programs. All they do when they appear on FOX is legitimize that biased station. They should let FOX know they are boycotting them as they are biased and no democrat will get a fair shake there.
