"Republicans Register Here", Legal?
I was out in San Francisco today and there were several * tables set up with big signs (in English and Spanish) that said "Republicans Register Here". Is this legal?

1. They have been doing it, seems pathetic. The lady her in the valley was
very lonesome. It must be legal.

3. I would think if someone doesn't want to register opposite party members.
there's nothing wrong with that. Why should you be forced to help your opposition? I'm sure there would be repercussions, however, if someone helped an opposing party member register for the vote, then destroyed their registration form.

5. In Texas
We are REQUIRED to register...and HELP REGISTER...anyone who asks us to. We can certainly be partisan in our efforts, surround ourslves with K/E signs, like "insect repellent" but, in the end, if a Republicunt wants us to register them, we have to.

So, the answer for us is to hang out places Repugnicunts don't usually go...like, for example, I spent five weekends in a row at local Goodwill stores, registering voters.

For the most part, Rupublicunts don't GO to Goodwill....

4. Registering by Party
I went to an instructional meeting at the local Kerry headquarters for voter registration and yes it is legal to help just one party. I believe they said that you would have to give somebody a form if they asked for it but if they were not Democrats you didn't have to help them fill it out or make sure it was delivered to the registrars office.

8. Not just register for one party
No, what the poster described is not legal. You cannot set up a sign that says "Democrats Register Here", that's not how I've been trained anyway. You can just hand a Republican a registration card and do nothing if they walk way. Otherwise, you DO have to deliver it to the registrar's office if they hand it to you and that's part of your voter registration event. If you do voter registration, you're supposed to treat everybody equally.

6. Only if that's
an "invitation" - while remaining open to registering Democrats, Libertarians, Greens and assorted nuts as well.

There's an ongoing F.B.I. investigation -- requested by the Reno, NV Voter Registrar -- into several voter registration groups that refused to register non-Republicans.

There's no limit to the hatred these people have for America; that's why their "leader" George is campaigning in Iraq recruiting for Osama.

7. Well, there was a lifesize cutout of *,
so I'm sure no self-respecting non-repug would have wanted to register there.... (although I did get a nice picture of my wife sticking her tongue out at it).

because I thought the deadline was Oct. 2.

On edit:

My bad. It's actually 15 days before the election.
