George W. Bush... Steward Of The Land.
" We proposed and passed a healthy forest bill which was essential to working with -- particularly in Western states -- to make sure that our forests were protected. What happens in those forests, because of lousy federal policy, is they grow to be -- they are not -- they're not harvested. They're not taken care of. And as a result, they're like tinderboxes.

And over the last summers I've flown over there. And so, this is a reasonable policy to protect old stands of trees and at the same time make sure our forests aren't vulnerable to the forest fires that have destroyed acres after acres in the West.

We've got a good, common-sense policy.

Now, I'm going to tell you what I really think is going to happen over time is technology is going to change the way we live for the good for the environment.

That's why I proposed a hydrogen automobile -- hydrogen-generated automobile. We're spending $1 billion to come up with the technologies to do that.

That's why I'm a big proponent of clean coal technology, to make sure we can use coal but in a clean way.

I guess you'd say I'm a good steward of the land.

Uhhhhhhhh... Can someone tell me what the hell this clown is talking about? And does that make GW the father of the hydrogen automobile like Al Gore is the father of one of the Internets?

Jay

You could say it, but you'd be wrong.

6. hydrogen automobile?
Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 12:21 AM by Gabi Hayes
hydrogen-generated automobile?

What on EARTH is he trying to say there?

I know what he means, but why can't he even MEMORIZE such simple phrases?

you KNOW he was programmed to say that; he's probably never heard the term before....OK, hyperbole, but isn't that his entire approach, aside from flatout lying?

12. He Can't Even Speak English.
Acres after acres of Internets. I just don't see how even non-smart people find this guy acceptable.

9. I was hoping Kerry would use the "Clean Air Act" line......
The only thing you've cleaned the air of is birds.

Also, I wish he'd said...."Do you know who proposed and started the EPA? It was Richard Nixon. The 2nd administrator the EPA ever had is a man named Pete Petterson. A life long Republican. He supports John Kerry for Pres."

4. He was trying to use a Bible word...
He thought it would impress someone. There is a parable about a good "steward" in the Bible, which means manager of resources.

...for the average voter. Shit my top level of academic achievement is two years of a techinical school and I know what the word means.

30. KERRY HAS TO FLESH OUT THIS VERY IMPORTANT POINT
I think Kerry did great to highlight the sheer hypocrisy of how Bush names environmental policies:

Healthy Forrest act = logging rights restored! Yee-haw

Clean Air Act = Polluters, you're in charge now!

And his lobbyers:

"Citizens for Sensible Control of Acid Rain" = Corporations, not a single citizen

"Wise Use" = a corporate group wanting to dismantle the environmental movement.

Robert Kennedy Jr's book "Crimes against Nature" is replete with examples of this Orwellian tendency to pervert and subvert names to cover up the exact opposite intent.

7. Bizarre
He may well have said that "You might say God has given me dominion over the earth."

"Steward of the land"? That's enough to make even Peggy Noonan gag.

13. That was amazing
The lying the chimp does is beyond sanity.

I only wish Kerry had blasted him with some of the problems Bob Kennedy has been talking about.

This is the very worst environmental administration since Teddy Roosevelt.

Just totally mindstunningly amazing.

Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 12:36 AM by Viking12
:wtf:

Even though Kerry rightly called chimpy's enviro policies Orwellian, I thought Kerry could have done much better on this question. He spent too much time answering a previous question and failed to emphasize his very commendable enviro record.

15. I liked his claim for wetland restoration --
(don't have the transcript -- app.) "I've created 3,000,000 wetlands"

Meaning, I guess, 3 million acres of wetlands. After, in his first weeks in office he, with a stroke of a pen, removed 5 million acres from protection. That leaves him only 2 million down.

I laugh every time I read it and imagine him speaking that line.

"I'm a good steward of the land."

It makes me laugh and sickens my soul at the same time.

20. Hmmmm, The Steward of the Environment vs...
The Steward of Gondor. Anyone else see the similarities here? One goes down in flames, literally, the other goes down in flames, figuratively, but they are both equally mad!

Unfuckingbelievable. No other word for it. His environmental policies are disasters in the making. His nose should have grown 10 feet on that lie alone.

I sure hope Jon Stewart takes him on on this one. I'm gonna need to laugh at it at some point. Right now - aaarrrggggg.

Strawmen - Some say that the mistake in Iraq is my personal three mistakes - * knows that the questioner was getting at.
