Bush says all his mistakes are other people.
...When asked about mistakes, he says "some of my appointments" but he won't name them 'cuz he doesn't want to hurt their feelings.
In other words, NOTHING is his fault!
This may be the single most arrogant thing I've ever heard anybody say in public. Has anyone in the chattering classes pointed it out? (I don't watch post debate blather, my mental health is too important to me.)

3. He'd probably say they let him down.
I agree - it was incredibly arrogant.

But the pundit spin will be, "He admitted he's made mistakes."

4. Actually, in those terms...
He's made at least 1,100 mistakes--"other people" getting killed--in Iraq alone...:-(

B-)

5. when challenged on the war .. .he passed the buck to generals...
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 11:53 PM by briang5000
He went to the WH basement and looked those generals in the eye.

They told him the plan was good. They had the right tools and troops.

pass the buck....

Kerry should have pounced on that line.

6. "some historians will say...."
my personal favorite bush quote of the night. I got a chuckle out of it. Means he doesn't expect to be held accountable.

7. So even when he's dead and gone he won't accept responsibility.
Is that what he's saying?

8. What else would you expect from a coWard?
Mistakes by the generals for not telling him they needed more troops.

Mistakes by the CIA, etc. for screwing up the intel (except that 8/6/01 PDB, but no one talks about that)

Mistakes by some he appointed (like Paul O'Neil, Larry whatshisname the budget guy, and Richard Clarke) since they openly disagreed with him. There's that narcissism complex again.
