Has this enhanced version of the wire on bush's back been posted?
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 02:39 PM by Onlooker
http://www.electoral-vote.com/

"Salon.com reports that Bush had a radio receiver taped to his back during the first debate so he could receive messages via a tiny hearing-aid-like device in his ear. They back this up with a photo. I have no way of verifying the story, but the Commission on Presidential Debates has verified that one of the rules of engagement the Bush campaign insisted on was no camera shots of the candidates from behind (which one of the pool cameras did anyway). This story is either investigative journalism at its best or wishful thinking. If you are not a Salon.com subscriber, you have to sign up for a free day pass to read the full story.

"I obtained a copy of the debate video and the Red Hawk image intensification software (developed for NASA), which combines multiple images into a sharper image and then had the contrast enhanced with Photoshop. Other than cropping and resizing of the image, no other manipulation was done. I stand 100% behind the fact that this image was taken from the debate video, independently confirming the Salon.com photo, but interpretation is up to you."

There's definitely something fishy going on.

10. My grandmother used a less visible wireless receiver
Not really, but she would have, since you could get less bulky receivers than this in the 1950s. I mean, honestly, would these people with bajillions of dollars and the world's highest technology use some 5 dollar Radio Shack contraption taped to the man's back? Considering they knew it was against the rules you'd think they'd put a bit more effort into concealment. There are likely completely self-contained receivers available to the CIA and such that are 100 percent in-ear with nothing externally visible.

I agree that the guy was probably wired, but this seems pretty silly. I vote for the black leather corset under the jacket theory.

16. Looks like a bullet-proof vest to me.

You can even see what appears to be outline of the the strap running over Shrub's right shoulder. A bullet-proof vest would make much more sense given Shrub's dismal performance.

Regarding the gratuitous "let me finish remark," keep in mind that this is a man who not only speaks to God, but actually claims that "God speaks back to him!

Last I checked, there is a clinical diagnosis for such a condition --Schizophrenia! Among its symptoms, according to the DSM-III (http://www.ns.purchase.edu/psych/Psychobio_of_Schizophrenia/history/DSMIII.htm), are:

Auditory Hallucinations: Frequently voices outside the head. Voices may be familiar, making insulting statements. Command hallucinations. Sounds.

Relationship to Outside World: Tendency to withdraw from involvement with the external world and to become preoccupied with egocentric and illogical ideas and fantasies in which objective facts are obscured, distorted, or excluded.
