I really think Bush will "win" tonight...
And I ain't lowering expectations.

He will do better than before. I guarantee it. I'm sure that every implant, drug, neural interface that's possible has been added to Dubya 0.9 in order to do better than last week. It's inconceivable he won't do "better". And with our compliant press, it may be enough to secure a "win" in the pr sense.

Also, the instant polls will be way biased toward married couples and older people. It's friday night, folks, and only the stay-at-home demographic and political junkies like us will be watching.

Thoughts?

3. Yeah, but that's all that matters.
I'm honestly more concerned about this debate than I was about the last one.

I know the media is going to jockey for a * victory..its up to US to stop them

5. Take heart in the West Wing rerun I'm watching
on UK Channel 4. CJ is worried about the expectation game pre debate - "People think the guy can't tie his shoelaces. If he in fact can tie his shoe laces he'll win". If I recall correctly JB whups ass.

7. I Think Someone Slipped You A Mickey.
Georgie's attempts to re-tool after his previous debate performance will only make matters worse for him. I foresee lots and lots of sweat.

8. I think you're right.
The networks and pundits have too much invested in programming three debates -- they have to keep their viewership up, this is their last gasp at shoveling in some Nielsen points to keep their asking price for advertising time up.

What better way than to declare the second debate a 'draw' or have Bush behave just barely well enough to be able to call it a narrow win for him? That means people will continue to watch the news channels/shows and the ratings will be good for the third debate.

As always, with these people -- it's not about democracy. It's about the dead presidents.

9. I'll never call this debate a "win" for Bush.
The facts speak for themselves. All Kerry has to do is run off a list of all of the failures of this idiot bufoon, tell the people what he will do as president and he wins.

10. Depends on whether Kerry can get * worked up
Kerry will get in some jabs that will get * steaming and all the drugs and neural interfaces will visibly meltdown...

11. Deus ex machina
Vapid expressions, repetitive phrases, a week of bad press and a lack of credibility even among conservative circles. If he "wins" tonight, it will be because some eternal, omnipotent, omniscient and fiendish being deems it so.

12. Kerry would have to start
speaking French for the public to forget what they saw the last time.

I would think that even if Bush does well, people will realize it is because of intensive programming, er, I mean practice.

14. Bush will come unglued without his adoring audience. Kerry's challenge
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 02:07 PM by oasis
to every lie that Chimpy tries to slip past viewers will rattle the Chimp even more.

Bush is undisciplined and will show the stress of being out of his comfort zone.

15. even if they dont say a word....
Kerry will win. putting Kerry and Bush together in the same room is a Kerry win by default. He simply looks and acts more presidential than Bush.
