How much can President Kerry reverse with executive orders??
There is so much work to be done...
Some of the evil juju will evaporate once the fumigators get finished with the White House and the Kerrys take residence.

But how much can President JK do in, say 60 days, by executive order?

2. It would seem that he could reverse anything Bush changed using the
executive order privilege.

3. When Bush loses
It means this election was a referendum on his policies. Congress will be obliged to listen to what Kerry has to say & do.

4. First he could take all the Busshit Shrub exec orders and dump them
That will get rid of a lot of nasty problems right there. Shrub has really stunk up the place with his "edicts." Then Kerry can make his own where appropriate.

5. I hope not too much
The balance of powers is so broken in this country that I'm willing to let it take a while to undo things if it means not breaking the balance further.

6. If elected, he would have to be careful.
There was an article in (I believe it was) Washington Monthly a couple of months back about how presidents use it, and what are acceptable and too radical uses of the Executive Order.

The thing about the Executive Order is that if a president uses it too often and too radically, it will cause problems later on. It can damage his reputation as a consensus-builder, which is really terrible for his term if he's dealing with an opposition party controlling both houses of Congress; it can make him seem dictatorial or more radical than he wants or needs to be when it comes time to run for re-election.

I can tell you one things Kerry would probably reverse by Executive Order, though -- the funding for international family planning organizations. That's been kicked back and forth by Democratic and Republican adminstrations like Cromwell's head ever since Reagan. Democrats reinstate it, Republicans cut it. It's one of the few things that I'm pretty sure Kerry would take a chance on doing via Executive Order.
