A girl here emailed the entire workforce when these yellow ribbons first started out...."how do I get one of those ribbons you put on the cars, I just have to have one".
Yep...just gotta have one. Saw one on someone else's car....looked pretty cool.
Well, now that I've got that on display...makes me feel a whole lot better....gives me a kinda warm feelin inside. Hey buddy....we know all wars have their dark side....hell...that's what war is all about...right? Hell yeah....buy a yellow ribbon....stick it on the ol power truck, SUV, minivan....it kinda makes you feel a whole lot better about the whole pile of crap.
I recently checked out one in a local Exxon, turned it over....expecting to see "made in China"....but it was "made in Taiwan". Geeze...do you think the Chinese actually had the balls to say.... thanks but no thanks....perhaps you can get them somewhere else?
This was actually quite a brilliant idea...this magnet strip idea...that women can easily stick on their SUV, minivan, power truck without the thought that it might mess up the paint job. And since it's hollowed ground....of course no one would consider taking one off....and at $2.99 a pop....well what's the big deal anyway.
Let's see, figure about 25 cents to make the ribbon, a profit of about 2 bucks, times lets say conservatively about 10 to 20 million sold? = at least 10s of millions of dollars?
How much of this carefully crafted, outsourced "made in Taiwan" profiteering will be used to actually help any of the soldiers?
