Afghanistan a Success?
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 07:24 AM by auburngrad82
The Bush administration has been touting Afghanistan as a great success because they are about to hold democratic elections. The press has been reporting about how there are less eligible voters than the 10 million registered voters that the administration keeps bringing up. Also, they are reporting that the election is being influenced by warlords and that the election monitors cannot monitor the election because it's too dangerous. Attacks against polling places are highly likely.

Now, combine that with the fact that the US didn't go into Afghanistan to set up a democratic government. We went in to destroy Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Ladin. Bin Ladin and Al Qaeda are still alive and free. We are no safer now than we were on September 12, 2001.

How is Afghanistan a success?
