I just got back from phone canvassing
Basically most people don't answer the phone. I started just leaving them messages on their answering machines. One guy, though really got to me. An unemployed middle-aged hispanic man whose son is overseas. The pain in this man's voice because he couldn't get a job was really apparent. I tried to talk to him about the candidates, jobs, Iraq, empowerment. I think I did pursuade him. At least maybe I told him someone cares.

2. Calling volunteers for canvassing
Two memorable ones... a woman who is gung-ho (81-years-young) wants to go door-to-door, another was a man who is between chemo treatments and is feeling great - wouldn't miss the canvass this weekend for anything. Amazing Americans.
