"Alamoudi -- who allegedly has direct connections to the 9/11 conspirators -- was invited to a prayer service with President Bush three days after the 9/11 attacks.

There are indications that al-Qadi, Alamoudi, and other suspected terrorists were protected from prosecution by high-ranking US officials, effectively preventing the FBI from stopping 9/11."

152. Here's a new symbolism
I stick a feather in it and call it macaroni

You know the origin of this expression? Check it out and then consider this: a tin foil hat with a feather.

The expression about putting a feather in a cap and calling it "macaroni" is a wry sarcastic commentary on how the "foolish bumpkins" end up on top of the game ultimately.

So, let's equate tinfoil hatters to the pre-Revolutionary folks, and the "macaroni" as the official party-line 9/11 story followers.

Maybe we just got our feather, and they can laugh at us all they want, but in the end... we'll you know the rest of the story about the American Revolution, right?

156. But by answering my previous question, you essentially just said....
... that the "19% fairy tale believers" would be protecting themselves from "THE TRUTH" by wearing a tinfoil hat. Now you're telling me that it offers no protection whatsoever? Perhaps you should find out what a "tinfoil hat" is before answering questions dealing with the subject.

If I am reading the replies in this thread correctly, it looks like this particular tinfoil hat theme started with CrazyOrangeCat. The only poster I saw accusing others of wearing tinfoil hats in this sub-discussion was MrSammo1. If you believe that "administration apologists are the ones who always use the phrase", does that mean you think MrSammo1 is an "administration apologist"? Maybe there's a flaw in your logic somewhere.

Or perhaps you are you just saying things that you think sound good. Other than the subject line of your last post, nothing you have said here seems to be based on anything other than your arguably ill-formed opinion.

32. Suspicion, Even Conviction, There Was Some Covering Up Done, Sir
Is a far cry from the sort of speculation allowed in the September 11 forum. There is very little doubt that items of intelligence warnings and various bits of sloppy work have been hushed up. It is most likely the great prepondrance of people indicating belief there was some concealment of the real events mean that sort of thing, and that very few believe in the full panoply of speculative theorizing that can be found i other quarters.

11. No. 81% OF THE PEOPLE WHO WILL ANSWER A CNN POLL might
believe that. It is not representative of the general public, no matter how much you might like to believe it is.

The fact that it's only a poll among people who will go out of their way to participate makes it statistically meaningless.

Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 07:22 PM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
Only reason I replied the way I did is because of the snottiness and firmness of your reply to begin with. I mean, your use of bolding, your use of all caps, and your such strong conviction that the poll is meaningless. Statistically speaking, maybe it is. But then again, maybe it isn't. You just don't know do you. You bolded your words as if you knew 100% certain that the poll was not representative. But if you don't have a 'Real' poll to reference, then you have no legitimacy declaring that as fact, in bold. It would've been accurate saying "it may not be representative", but blunty saying NOT, in bold, as fact, I would say requires backing up. Cause maybe the public does in fact believe in those numbers that bushco has covered up aspects of 9/11 to some degree or another. Why shoot it down so abruptly and as fact when the only fact is that you don't know either way what the percentage of the general public is?

That's the point I was trying to make. I don't like when people try passing off their personal passionate opinions as inarguable fact, that's all.

160. Umm okay
I don't. He has some small statistical point, but he and scottie aren't even listening.

Scottie and Redstone: we don't think the poll is accurate. We're happy somebody is talking about it.

Is that clear enough?

I usually appreciate Redstone, but look at it from my perspective:
MIHOP is right. Our country was attacked, with the full knowledge of the schmucks in our government. The last three elections have been fraudulent. A war gets started on lies.
Nothing seems like its going my way.
Now things look like they might be turning around, just a hair. Chief bastard's approval rating drops like a rock. Media finally starts to ask a couple of medium questions of the liars. Liars are being prosecuted. They may turn on each other. Not great, but it's a start.
Then, wonder of wonders, a person talks about LIHOP and MIHOP in some small version of the mass media. This wouldn't have happened before. Nice. Exciting.
There's even a poll, albeit a worthless internet poll, about whether or not people believe in LIHOP and MIHOP. Very exciting, just that it can even be uttered, when it seemed like no one, but no one, would be allowed to express such thoughts at all.
Then, some of my compatriots come barging in, don't believe in MIHOP, loudly explaining why the poll no sane person would put scientific faith in isn't accurate.
Thanks buddy.
Remember, MIHOP is right. Anyone with an open mind who spends a small amount of time looking at the facts and circumstances around 9/11 should be able to see that. And DU is about all the companionship a person who knows MIHOP is real has. And you al are here, braying on about a stupid, worthless poll that's wrong.
You're right. It's worthless. We're fucked. No one will ever believe the truth. The country will continue to slide into oblivion.
Thanks.

111. Here's a link to the results of a Zogby poll from Aug. 2004 ~ looks like
it's pretty representative of NYers at least ~ I imagine those numbers have gone up since then. I know several Republicans who back then voted for Bush, and who now believe his administration did know about 9/11 and did nothing to stop it.

Half of New Yorkers Believe US Leaders Had Foreknowledge of Impending 9-11 Attacks and “Consciously Failed” To Act; 66% Call For New Probe of Unanswered Questions by Congress or New York’s Attorney General, New Zogby International Poll Reveals On the eve of a Republican National Convention invoking 9/11 symbols, sound bytes and imagery, half (49.3%) of New York City residents and 41% of New York citizens overall say that some of our leaders "knew in advance that attacks were planned on or around September 11, 2001, and that they consciously failed to act," according to the poll conducted by Zogby International. The poll of New York residents was conducted from Tuesday August 24 through Thursday August 26, 2004. Overall results have a margin of sampling error of +/-3.5.

Question 77- The New York Times/CBS News Poll (nationwide) April 23-27, 2004- 56% say the Administration is "hiding something" and 16% say they're "mostly lying" about what they knew prior to 9/11

These are your fellow Americans. Give the People what they want.

42% say impeach Bullshit, already- don't wait to find out if he actually did lie about WMD- or 9/11
http://www.americanresearchgroup.com

Media ain't reporting that either. Someone alert AJ Hammer and the crew at Showbiz- all the other "news" orgs are "entertainment"- besides Jon Stewart, of course.

16. Im not a conspiracy theorist
If youve seen me around the boards you would know that. As a matter of fact Im usually one to ridicule the conspiracy buffs. Anyway, even if the poll represents only a specific crowd , the numbers are pretty amazing imo.

Have you kept up with the Mousaui trial? Some really stunning things are coming out of that. Stuff I had never heard before. Thats when I started looking at this a bit closer. It seems incredible that they were warned so often and pretty much ignored it. Im not saying I believe it was a big conspiracy, Im saying the facts coming out are making me look at this a bit more warily . Its making me feel its too easy to blow this off without a look.

If you do not belive in LIHOP or MIHOP, you should see the video to at least understand why LIHOPpers and MIHOPpers believe as they do.

It sure beats throwing out ad hominem "tinfoil" accusations.

That's the Able Danger spin. It was placed out there by the neocons to cover their asses. The physical facts show that something other than "dropping the ball" happened.

I'm going to let you know something that very few people have heard. Pulverized human bone was found in the lungs of workers that were at and around ground zero.

Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 07:13 PM by mcscajun
this, appended to every single one (emphasis mine):

"This QuickVote is not scientific and reflects the opinions of only those Internet users who have chosen to participate. The results cannot be assumed to represent the opinions of Internet users in general, nor the public as a whole. The QuickVote sponsor is not responsible for content, functionality or the opinions expressed therein."

Aside from that, CNN's poll questions tend to be short and simplistic, and in this poll, we have no way to know what opinions were held even by those who answered "Yes" as to what the "real events" were that were covered up, held back or suppressed by BushCo.

166. No one is saying this is a scientific poll
And no one is saying that the results are statistically meaningful.

What the poll does suggest is that there are a lot of people out there who have doubts about the official 9/11 story.

And, the excitement on this thread largely stems from the fact that the issue is getting some exposure which has been a rarity in the MSM.

Your response that the poll simply measures how many people "go out of their way to respond to CNN polls" is only partially correct because, if that were the case, we would likely see a more even split. Or, is it that those who are more likely to go out of their way to respond to online polls are more likely to be "tin-foilers"?

I highly doubt the latter, but then, we can't really know.

BTW, this is a subject I do know something about as my training is in the field of research and measurement.

That was thing that brought me to DU-after being lied to about the Iraq war-then I find out they didn't want any info about arguably the day that "changed everything". Yes, people were killed, we launch a couple of wars because of it, and we give up our liberties but who cares what really happened?

JFK was a day at the beach with sunscreen compared to finding out the web of lies that is 9/11.

Suffice it to say that there was either direct collusion with the "enemy" or a level of incompetence throughout our government that is truly criminally negligent.

64. F.A.A. Official Scrapped Tape of 9/11 Controllers' Statements
F.A.A. Official Scrapped Tape of 9/11 Controllers' Statements
By MATTHEW L. WALD
New York Times
Published: May 6, 2004

WASHINGTON, May 6 — At least six air traffic controllers who dealt with two of the hijacked airliners on Sept. 11, 2001, made a tape recording that same day describing the events, but the tape was destroyed by a supervisor without anyone making a transcript or even listening to it, the Transportation Department said in a report today.

The taping began before noon on Sept. 11 at the New York Air Route Traffic Control Center, in Ronkonkoma, on Long Island, where about 16 people met in a basement conference room known as "the Bat Cave" and passed around a microphone, each recalling his or her version of the events a few hours earlier.

But officials at the center never told higher-ups of the tape's existence, and it was later destroyed by an F.A.A. official described in the report as a quality-assurance manager there. That manager crushed the cassette in his hand, shredded the tape and dropped the pieces into different trash cans around the building, according to a report made public today by the inspector general of the Transportation Department.

The tape had been made under an agreement with the union that it would be destroyed after it was superseded by written statements from the controllers, according to the inspector general's report. But the quality-assurance manager asserted that making the tape had itself been a violation of accident procedures at the Federal Aviation Administration, the report said.

The inspector general, Kenneth M. Mead, said that the officials' keeping the existence of the tape a secret and the decision by one to destroy it had not served "the interests of the F.A.A., the department or the public" and could foster suspicions among the public.

Mr. Mead had been asked by Senator John McCain, the Arizona Republican who is chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, to look into how well the aviation agency had cooperated with what is widely known as the 9/11 commission, a bipartisan, independent panel investigating the terror attacks.

On the tape, the controllers, some of whom had spoken by radio to people on the planes and some who had tracked the aircraft on radar, gave statements of 5 to 10 minutes each, according to the report.

71. Is it just a coincidence that Bush was at a photo op that day?
Isn't it kind of strange that he was promoting "education" at a moment that everybody knew would always be remembered, instead of on his perpetual vacation?

Isn't it kind of a coincidence that he was in his brother's state of Florida?

Isn't it strange that he was doing something that would play so well to the public?

Almost as if he were there to be insulated and at the same time look Presidential?

Doesn't it seem like a staged photo-op that was planned in advance?

Has anyone ever analyzed his schedule for the rest of that month, to figure out what the likelihood was of his being in such a picture-perfect multi-ethnic school setting?

Did they cover up in terms of LIHOP or MIHOP? SOrry I REFUSE to go there.

Did they cover up due to their own gross negligence and incompetence? I would assume yes.

I think the question is geared towards the first one so I answered NO.

thats the problem... the M$MWs refuse to even go there so how can anyone know what is going on?

ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away though.

Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 11:13 AM by Loge23
These conspiracy theories about bombs going off are really hard to believe.
While the collapse of the towers is somewhat strange, the whole affair is unprecedented. Who knows what to expect when fully loaded planes fly into a building anyway?
I do believe that with proper oversight the tragic events could have been prevented. It's those issues that we will never know about rather than some grand conspiracy to make this thing happen, IMO.

Is there any physical evidence to believe that any of the WTC towers were heated long enough or hot enough to weaken the steel enough to cause a total and catastrophic collapse?

92. I get all my beliefs from Charlie Sheen.
He had the moral authority to appear in the epoch-defining Hot Shots Part Deux, so I buy into everything he says. A man whose knowledge of structural engineering is limited to "appearing in a film that had the word 'Wall' in the name" would always be my first choice for advice on MIHOP. His judgement, already clearly shown in his decision to appear in Scary Movie 4, in using a vile right-wing radio programme to make his case is self-evident. Cynics would describe his stance as the witless maunderings of a clueless celebrity on a par with John Travolta's belief in Scientology, but not me.

94. I don't know much about Charlie Sheen, but if he said the earth was not
flat I'd have to agree with him. Otoh, if he said that Bush was a great president, I'd definitely disagree with him. Iow, he would not influence me one way or the other, nor would his father, who has been a tireless advocate and activist for issues I mostly agree with. Both are citizens of the US, so they have a right to their opinions.

I am always surprised at the attitude that celebrities should 'shut up and sing' to use a fairly well-known directive from the radical right to the Dixie Chicks when they dared to offer an opinion on the current 'president'.

I respect their right, as much as anyone else's, to answer a question regarding their opinions on current events, if they choose to do so. As far as influencing anyone, polls show that most people are not influenced by celebrities, but will think more kindly of those whose opinions they agree with, naturally.

Charlie Sheen apparently agrees with me and a large portion of the population this time ~ at least 50% of NY residents believe that the Bush administration had something to do with 9/11 ~ but that was over a year ago. It may be more now ~

I used to find it impossible to even think this way, but then I saw the torture pictures, the war dead, the children blown to bits etc. and after a while, I had little doubt that killing and torturing human beings was something these ambitious, evil, greedy, power-hungry so-called leaders, have no problem with ~ they do not respect life, any kind of life.

If I had even the slightest doubt they might have had something to do with 9/11, Katrina cured all those doubts. George Bush did not even mention the victims of Katrina in his SOTU address ~ and these were US citizens. He has not even made sure that the bodies are retrieved. So, why would it be so hard to imagine them being in some way responsible for another tragic event, especially when they had so much to gain from it?

110. So I take it that you think everything about the official CT is 100%
correct, even the contradictions?

Just wondering ...

Sheen ain't anything special, but his discussion on 9/11 was (perhaps surprisingly) rational. Why attack the messenger rather than the message?

119. Binary thinking.
"If you don't believe X, you must believe Y." That isn't the case, as you know.

I read a transcript of the conversation. Sheen's views appear to be based on his own impressions, which is fair enough, but does not make for a case. And, in the case of Alex Jones, the medium is the message.

Here's the only bit of UK commentary about the discussion that I've seen so far, by Marina Hyde:

He's a right Charlie

Mr Sheen is the latest celebrity to confuse fact and fiction

Pay attention, civilians. Actor Charlie Sheen has been focusing his mind on the official explanation for 9/11. And you know what? He's not buying it. "It just didn't look like any commercial jetliner I've flown on any time in my life," the Hotshots Part Deux star told a US radio station this week, "and then when the buildings came down later on that day, I said to my brother 'call me insane', but did it sorta look like those buildings came down in a controlled demolition?"

You're insane. Next.

...

Mmm. For many celebrities, conspiracy theories are the VIP rooms of history. Sure, you'll have your Earl Warrens and your senate investigations patrolling the velvet rope, but if you know the right people, and have access to enormous quantities of self-regard, you can get through to the inner sanctum where they tell you It's All A Big Lie.

Frankly, with dentistry as expensive as yours, you simply can't afford to let The Man stamp his jackboot down on your face, and so it is that when faced with the inquiry "did Lee Harvey Oswald act alone?", you find yourself thinking: "God, I mean ... do any of us? Like, he had to have people, you know? At least an agent and a publicist."

It seems we agree. And before you attack the messenger, Hyde is a leftist working on a left-wing paper.

118. Once again, MIHOP does not require belief of CD/Pentagate.
This is what naysayers don't seem to be getting. Not ALL of us completely buy into the CD/Pentagate theories, but that alone doesn't necessarily mean we DON'T believe in MIHOP. I still firmly and honestly believe that this bunch of criminals (and I'm not talking about JUST Al Quaeda, folks) had a hand in all of this. It's empirically impossible for me to solely blame this on incompetence; I don't give a SHIT what anyone says, THEY KNEW and they made it happen on purpose because they LET it happen on purpose.

Simply following the timelines and events before the attacks, the illegality past associates of this cabal were involved in throughout history, the mainstream reports out of the Arab community prior to the attacks, PNAC's damning mission statements, ruling out the possibility of NORAD and the FAA bellyflopping ON THAT DAY ONLY; reading carefully all of what is espoused in The Terror Timeline (which doesn't at ALL go into CD), I mean how the HELL can anyone seriously rule out that Cheney, Rummy the Dummy, Condosleeza and the rest of these liars are perfectly innocent? These bastards who have lied to us throughout their entire term, have lied and gotten away with more criminal acts and are responsible for more civilian and soldier deaths than any phantom greybeard on dialysis could hope to pull off and use a bought and paid for media to sell and defend their acts? How the HELL can people seriously look me in the eye, look the 9/11 families who have lost loved ones in the eyes and tell me with a completely straight face that these assholes are innocent of ANY wrongdoing?

You can sit there and think your government is this unit who's still civil, who still values the needs of Americans and who believes in doing the right thing, but don't shit on the rest of us and call us retards and all other kinds of ad hominems for believing MIHOP.

A few thousand dead Americans means shiz-NIT to these dickheads. They'll nuke an American city if it meant exploiting the populace and making more crony money, and don't think for one SECOND that they won't. And really, how would you know any better and what would any of us do about it? They got the media, the corporations and the guns on their side.

I'm just saying to not believe the Bewsh administration and their cabal had ANYthing to do with 9/11, COME on. You're smarter than this, people.

I believe there was a coverup because there was an immediate unwillingness to investigate what happened.
The answers were provided immediately!
THe steel was shipped out of the U.S. right away.
THe EPA was told to falsify the air quality in New York to SATISFY the people that it was SAFE to breathe the air!
Everything was incinerated except the passport of the leader! I don't believe it.
The Arabians were quickly whisked out of the country when all Americans were grounded!
Bush knew what would be happening - just look at his face - no surprise to him.
He didn't even initiate any orders upon hearing that "we're under attack" Any other president would have spun into action and begun giving orders, not * because he had already been briefed on the action and the outcome.

In my humble opinion.

PPS Didn't any of you wonder, on 9/11, how they just goddamn knew who the hijackers were so goddamn fast? Yet they couldn't stop them before hand? I sure wondered ... so I started looking into it! You might try it, jackals.
