Abdul Aziz, Abdul Rahman and now please meet .... Abdulatif Al Omari!
You thought that already the existence of Abdul Aziz (from Hollywood) and Abdul Rahman Al Omari (from Vero Beach) as suspected hijackers and the question concerning this unexplainable confusion (see Thread: “Meet the four unknown hijackers”) was enough? I’m sorry to disappoint you.
May I introduce to you:
Abdulatif Al Omari from Miami!
He too was suspected to have been aboard AA 11.
Thanks very much, Paul Thompson :), for sending me the photo of this guy:

(Unfortunately I still don’t have a photo of Abdul Rahman, that would be very interesting)

You don’t believe it? Then read for yourself:
Federal authorities said their names were on the passenger manifests of hijacked planes." They are "Wail M. Al Shehri, 28, of Boynton Beach; Abdulatif A Al-Omari, 31, of Miami, and Waleed Al Shehri, 25, of Daytona Beach. Waleed Al Shehri, records show, at one time held private and commercial pilot's licenses."
(Bulletin Frontrunner, 9/13/01)
(London Times, 9/14/01)
(Miami Herald, 9/15/01)

Only the Portland Press Herald calls this person “Abdulatif A. Al-Omari”:
In Maine, the FBI and local police track the movements of Mohamed Atta and Abdulatif A. Al-Omari. The two men spent the night at the Comfort Inn in South Portland on Monday and then, at 5:45 the next morning, flew from the Portland International Jetport to Boston, police disclose.
(Portland Press Herald, 9/18/01 b)
(Portland Press Herald, 9/15/01)

The Miami Herald reported that five of the suspects were regularly seen drinking and flashing wads of cash at a bar in the Miami suburbs. They were identified as Mohamad Atta, 33, Marwan al-Shehhi, Waleed al-Shehri, 28, Wael al -Shehri, 28, and Abdulatif al-Omari, 31 .
(Independent, 9/14/01)

From all newspaper accounts it is clear that Abdulatif is a clearly different person than Abdul Aziz and Abdul Rahman.
He has a different date of birth: March 1, 1970.
And hence a different age.
His face is clearly different from Abdul Aziz
He has a different address. He lives in Miami and lived in Cuyahoga Falls.
(Akron Beacon Journal, 9/15/01)
(Miami Herald, 9/13/01)

And very impressively his appartement was the very first appartement to have been searched :
Abdulatif A Al-Omari, 31. His Miami apartment was raided late Tuesday.
(Miami Herald, 9/13/01)
(St. Petersburg Times, 9/14/01)

Not a singe newspaper presented the story of the three different Al Omaris having all been suspected hijackers. Sorry, there is one. But they talk about all three as if it would be one single person:
Abdulaziz Alomari: Thought to have been a pilot, and may have used the aliases Abdulrahman Alomari and Abdulatif Alomari. Possible residences included Hollywood, Fla., and Miami.
(Daily News, 9/15/01)

And the Portland Press Herald mixes up Abdulatif and Abdul Rahman (but not Abdul Aziz!):
The Press Herald has learned that Al-Omari may have spent considerable time in Portland, over an undetermined period. Sources said Thursday that officials are investigating reports that the 31-year-old had a relationship with a woman here.
(…)
Al-Omari's most recent address was Vero Beach, Fla. , in a neighborhood called Treasure Trails.

(Portland Press herald, 9/14/01)

But even after the FBI published the name of Abdulaziz Al Omari on September 14, 2001 (and it was clear at that moment that Abdul Rahman had left the US before 911) the story of Abdulatif hasn’t finished yet:
The man, who was identified as 31-year-old Abdulatif al-Omari in a story published in yesterday's Miami Herald, may have been one of the suspected hijackers on American Airlines Flight 11 , the first plane to hit the trade center, according to the newspaper.
However, Robert Fiatal, special agent in charge of the FBI office in Akron, said last night it had not been confirmed that al-Omari is the same man identified as one of the hijackers by the U.S. Justice Department.
The Justice Department yesterday released the names of 19 suspects who were identified as hijackers on the four airliners that crashed on Tuesday. Among the 19 suspects identified by the Justice Department was Abdulaziz Alomari, who used at least two different birth dates - Dec. 24, 1972, and May 28, 1979. The al-Omari who lived in Cuyahoga Falls for a period in 1996 and 1997 listed his birth date as March 1, 1970.
"The person here," Fiatal said, "has not been confirmed to be any of the individuals who are suspected of being hijackers." However, Fiatal and top-ranking officers from the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department did confirm that FBI Special Agent Michelle A. Stone, who is assigned to the Akron office, picked up a packet of information and a photograph of al-Omari from Cuyahoga Falls police on Thursday night . Fiatal said that information was turned over to the FBI in Washington, D.C.

(Akron Beacon Journal, 9/15/01)

Only on September 19, 2001 it is finally revealed that Abdulatif is not the Al Omari from AA 11! Although since five days Abdul Aziz has officially been declared as the hijacker:
The FBI now says that a former Cuyahoga Falls resident was not one of the suspected hijackers in last week's attacks on the World Trade Center.
Robert Fiatal, special agent in charge of the FBI office in Akron, said yesterday that he was able to clearly distinguish the former Falls resident, identified in police records as 31-year-old Abdulatif al-Omari, from a suspect the U.S. Justice Department had identified as one of the hijackers.
"They are not the same person," Fiatal said.

(Akron Beacon Journal, 9/19/01)

But what’s striking is that the FBI doesn’t officially give a statement but a special agent himself. As striking are his reasons for stating that Abdulatif wasn’t the hijacker:
Fiatal said a photograph of Abdulaziz Alomari, which is on file at the FBI's headquarters in Washington, D.C., does not look like a Cuyahoga Falls Police Department booking photograph of Abdulatif al-Omari.
He said he could not release the photo of Abdulaziz Alomari.
Two other factors that set the men apart were their different names and ages .
"The guy in Cuyahoga Falls is about 10 years older," Fiatal said.

(Akron Beacon Journal, 9/19/01)

Wow, fascinating insight. But why did it take 8 days to figure that out?
The research was so easy:
Abdulatif was already in the computer of the police:
In Miami and Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, al-Omari appeared to have attracted attention with his driving. He racked up several traffic infractions, including three driving-under-the-influence offenses from 1994 to 1996, records in the two cities show.
In Miami-Dade, al-Omari was arrested in June 1994 for DUI. A year later, on Jan. 13, 1995, he was again charged with DUI and speeding. He failed to appear in court and a bench warrant was issued. The disposition of the case is unclear.
In 1995 or 1996, al-Omari turned up in Cuyahoga Falls, an Akron suburb which has a population of about 50,000. And he was again stopped by police several times for traffic infractions.

(Miami Herald, 9/14/01 c)

A quick glance into the computer would have easily shown that photo, date of birth and name were different. Still the FBI needed eight days.
Especially strange is the complete confusion of the FBI if one remembers that right from the start they had the photo of Al Omari at the cash machine in Portland, they had his passport and they even had the data of his credit card as he took cash out of the machine. No reason for any confusion.

But it is interesting to mention that Abdulatif is also a very strange person.
While in Vero Beach the neighbours talked immediately to the press it’s different in Miami:
Records list al-Omari's address as Bayview Towers, 850 N. Miami Ave., across the street from the Miami Arena. Citing tenant privacy, a representative of the rental complex declined to confirm on Thursday whether al-Omari ever resided at one of the two gated, high-rise towers in downtown Miami.
(Miami Herald, 9/14/01 c)

But his whereabouts are unclear:
(He) Lived in Miami since 1994.
(St Petersburg Times, 9/14/01)

(Abdulatif) al-Omari who lived in the Falls in 1996 and 1997
(Akron Beacon Journal, 9/19/01)

It's not clear when al-Omari returned to South Florida from Ohio.
(Miami Herald, 9/14/01 c)

But the strangest of all:
Where was Abdulatif Al Omari at the time he was suspected?
Where is he now and why didn’t he never as in many other cases call the FBI or even sue them for wrongly publishing his photo in relation to 911?
