We did kill the mastermind of the US embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. Those bombings killed hundreds people and the FBI has hard evidence connecting Bin Laden to those attacks. Bin Laden is a terrorist and a scumbag and deserved to be punished. I will not shed a tear over his death.
However, the general consensus over the last few days seems to be that we killed the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. Republicans and Dems are talking about the events of September 11th as if the killing of Bin Laden brings some kind of closure. Obama just ventured to ground zero and comforted the families of the 9/11 victims. The media has bombarded us with images of the events of 9/11 after Bin Laden was killed by US navy seals.
That's what I object to.
Everyone thinks that we have hard evidence connecting Bin Laden to the 9/11 attacks, but we don't. The FBI has even admitted this. Bin Laden wasn't even wanted in connection to the 9/11 attacks. Where's the evidence connecting him to the hijackers? Where are the phone calls connecting them? Where is the wire transfer information? Where is the hard evidence that Bin Laden engaged in the planing, financing and execution of the 9/11 attacks? No evidence like that has been presented. The FBI most wanted poster of Bin Laden makes no specific mention of a connection to the 9/11 attacks.
So lets celebrate for getting the guy behind terrorist attacks in Kenya and Tanzania that killed hundreds of people, but let's not celebrate for getting the guy who masterminded the 9/11 attacks. That guy could still be at large.
