David L Griscom-- Is He a Crackpot?
He supports the thermite mechanism for demolition of the WTC, among other things.

Interesting post from his blog:
http://impactglassman.blogspot.com/2010/09/911-truth-evidence-of-energetic.html

His blog covers a lot of stuff we see on the front page of DU:
http://impactglassman.blogspot.com/

His background:
Ph.D. in Physics, Brown University, 1966. Fellow, American Physical Society. Fellow, American Association for the Advancement of Science. Fellow, American Ceramic Society. Member, Geological Society of America. Research Physicist at Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), Washington, DC, 1967-2001. Fulbright-García Robles Fellow at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, 1997. Invited Professor of Research at Universités de Paris-6 & 7, Lyon-1, et St-Etienne (France) and Tokyo Institute of Technology, 2000-2004. Adjunct Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Arizona, 2004-2005. Principal author, 109 papers in peer-reviewed journals and books. Consultancy: impactGlass research international, 2005-present.

I am curious if the OCTers here are really going to just write this guy off as a crackpot-- and if so, exactly why?

1. Well...
He thinks it's plausible that the victims aboard the planes may actually be living it up in Tahiti off their Swiss bank accounts.

He thinks it's very plausible that the *therm*te was smuggled into the building as explosive ceiling tiles.

Perhaps we can dismiss him as a crackpot because his pot has a long crack in it.

6. "where did he go bad?"
About the time he started pushing crackpot theories about 9/11?

There are accomplished scientists who believe all sorts of things.

If he believes the moon landings were real, then is he a crackpot in your book?

16. that doesn't make him a crackpot to me.
Just someone who hasn't completely studied the evidence and looked at it dispassionately.

I used "crackpot" because that seems to be the view of the OCTs about any scientist who goes against the OCT-- no matter their qualifications.

17. Jesus, Spooked...
Do you honestly think we'd regard Griscom as a crackpot if he actually had concrete evidence for his theories?

He has the same problem you do...no one buys yoir goofy bullshit.

2. He thinks the Active Thermite paper is fabulous.
That's enough for me to recognize him as a crack pot.

7. Thanks for the new source -- faved the website ....
Quickly scanned it, but we all know that office furnishings didn't create the

FALL of the WTC towers -- and certainly didn't cause 6 months of intense burning

at temps far above what any furnishings could cause, either.

Thought the aerial photos showing intensity of thermal hot spots is important evidence --

didn't know it existed ---

Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS) remote sensing data (left and upper right) show the distribution and intensity of thermal hot spots (warm colors) in the area of World Trade Center (WTC) five days after 9/11/01. The red-dashed rectangle overlaid on the pre-9/11 satellite photograph of the WTC towers at the lower right corresponds to the white- dashed rectangles on the AVRIS images.

. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) report of flyovers of the site of the World Trade Center (WTC) five and twelve days after the 9/11/01 attacks to record Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (AVIRIS) remote sensing data (see figure above).

AVIRIS is a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) remote sensing instrument that measures upwelling spectral radiance in the visible through the infrared, specifically, for wavelengths from 0.37 to 2.5 micrometers. In response to requests from the EPA through the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), NASA flew AVIRIS on a small aircraft over lower Manhattan at mid-day on Sept. 16 and again in Sept. 23, 2001. Only the Sept. 16th results are shown in the figure above. These are false-color images, wherein the orange and yellow areas represent hot spots on the surface of the WTC debris (and the dark areas that are not water are shadows).

and also a reminder of the seismic evidence -- which when combined with film of WTC towers

points to many bombs/explosives having gone off that day--!!

Thanks for the info!

:)

Why is that?
And do you think "crap" is a synonym for "facts"?
