Were Any Photos Recovered In The Wreckage Of The Twin Towers From Victims Cameras Or Phones?......
Was talking with some friends the other day about 9/11. I asked if any photos were ever recovered from camera phones or cameras of people that were in either building? I carry a digital camera around on my belt all the time. Just in case there is an interesting picture to take. I was thinking that if I were in one of those buildings when the planes hit - I would be snapping pics of what was going on. If I was in the second tower I would be snapping pics of the first tower that was hit and burning. No one in our group ever recalled that any phones or cameras were recovered from the rubble.

Is it possible that a cell phone or camera would have survived the destruction?

Is it possible that there might be photos on those cell phones or cameras?

If there were - have any pics been made public?

One of my friends said that there was so much destruction that nothing survived in the aftermath. When another friend said - wait a minute - didn't they find the passports of some of the terrorists that were on the planes in the rubble?

If passports can survive - surely a cell phone or camera or two was recovered in the rubble.

Just curious. It made for an interesting discussion topic for our group on a hot summers evening

1. not everyone carries a camera
I think you might be a little more concerned about your life and other lives if you were in the WTC than you would be of taking pictures.
"Hmmm...a plane just hit my building and the flames are everywhere. Let me take a picture before I decide to burn to death or jump out the window and die."
and another thing you can try at home...get a cinderblock, your passport and your camera. drop the cinderblock on your passport, then drop it on your camera. then, see which came out looking better.

3. There was 20 minutes separation between impacts
Since south tower office workers were told to remain at their desk (and many did)I wouldn't be surprised if one of those several hundred shot some kind of footage if they had the right device on hand.

13. no!
PSH!

What do you mean???

I had my iPhone 4 handy during the whole attack, and I was snapping photos and tweeting them the whole time! How great! People were telling me to “get out of the lobby” to “save my life" because a large plane just struck, but I was busy playing Frogger on my iPhone, and updating my Facebook status! And yea, it survived countless tons of rubble upon it, too. Not even a scratch! The only problem was the reception, you know those iPhone 4’s!!! (didnt get great reception in 2001)

Then once the building started to pancake i dropped my phone in the lobby while taking more pictures and running. Then a kind firefighter went looking for my phone, combing the rubble, not looking for survivors, but for my camera! Because when 3,000 people are murdered or trapped under rubble because of an assault on a major building, you want the rescue workers looking for our damaged cameras!

Oh, and the Asbestos tasted great!

-----

And yes, sarcasm aside, there is one documentary, called “9/11” (i believe) where it shows the FDNY in the lobby after the first plane hit, until the point the second tower collapsed. It’s really interesting. It was made by french filmmakers who were coincidentally filming a documentary about the daily lives of FDNY firefighters so they followed them to WTC during the attack.

you should look it up n watch it.

29. There are some pictures of WTC workers and firemen in the stairwells
Some were published in, IIRC "102 Minutes" (a book I recommend to everybody interested in what happened inside the buildings on 9/11). I don't know who took them. There's also a documentary of the same name which includes footage taken by people who lived in the immediate area.

Most people in the World Trade Center buildings probably had more important things on their minds than taking pictures, though, even if they had a camera handy.

2. +1 It would be compelling footage/photos
Unfortunately I can't help you but I know several financial institutions hired data retrieval companies to recover critical data on hard drives. If a small disk can survive from a pc there is probably lots of stuff that survived. However it makes more sense a hard disk drive would survive compared to a phone or camera since the disk is fairly well protected.

5. I think people would have been running away instead of taking pictures
I am a messenger by foot in NYC and I heard the super-loud thunder-like sound of the first plane impacting Tower 1. I was exactly on the corner of Vandam St. and Varick st., which is about 20 blocks away from the WTC. If I was startled by the explosion you can imagine how freaked out people inside the building would have been. I doubt anyone would try to take pictures at this point.

7. Correct. My buddy claimed to have seen a plane flying low though
Edited on Mon Aug-02-10 04:15 PM by 30rock
I was walking uptown (north), with my back towards the WTC 1 when it happened. Plus you could only see WTC 2 from my spot. WTC 1 was hidden from view. So I could not have seen the plane anyway. Later on I heard someone say, "omg another plane hit" or something like that. So I stood on the middle of the street along with many others, and I saw a hole on the WTC 2 building, with smoke coming out of it. I didn't see a plane sticking out of WTC either. Maybe the plane got stuck inside, or fell out of the other side. I don't know what the story is.

Then I went back to my the office (121 varick st.) and the printing press operator said something like, "I saw a plane flying very low and I was like, what is that plane doing flying so low." those were his words. But it's been 9 years. i don't remember if he said that on the morning of 9-11 or a few days later. He sounded truthful to me. his name is Samuel (Sami) and his work area had a perfect view towards the Hudson river, which was about 5 blocks west from us.

My co-workers and I saw WTC 1 crumble. We had to stick our heads out of the windows in order to see. At one point I saw about 4-6 people holding hands before jumping from what looked to be the 70th or 80th floors, I would say. Perhaps the 90's, not too sure. It was sad. At first I said, "look at all that debris falling from the building," to which a co-worker said, "no, that's not debris, that's people."

Then i realized that people look very small from 20 blocks away. So yes, it was people, not debris. I then had to walk from my job (SoHo) to Harlem. I had never walked so much in my life...before I finally saw a train in service later in the afternoon. I lived in the Bronx.

THEY WERE REAL. There was no greenscreen, sorry.

but, they may have been flown by the govt, or part of operation able danger, and I heard explosions at the towers later on, so there’s alot of Bush Administration deception and funny-business about 9-11. Also Mayor Giuliani was in on it.

The official story is a sham but the planes were real (physically).

since, as you claim, all the witnesses were "fooled" into thinking they saw planes that didn't exist, please tell us how the "perps" could have made witnesses HEAR planes that supposedly didn't exist?

Another one of those hard questions that drove your compadres off, I guess.

26. well, then, here’s my detailed stort
at the time, I lived at 200 Rector Place New York, NY 10006

building looks like this: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=ee1980a408293d6e991c0f6cb9fd4fe&prevstart=0

My apartment window was facing the trade centers.

I was sleeping late (no school that day), when subconciously, I heard an unusually low flying plane, (Manhattan is restricted airspace)

I sat up, and still dazed, heard the crash into the north tower.

couldnt see it, (just the perpetual billowing smoke) because the plane hit the high floors of the north side of the north tower. and i was south of them.

I shrugged it off after 20 minutes or so, when the first responders arrived surrounding the area

I was thinking it was probably a small plane, and they would put out the fire before anyone else gets hurt.

Later on, (10 or 15 min) while flipping through the news reports on CNN, NBC, FOX, ABC, my friend in an adjacent apartment asked me if I wanted to head over to see if the observation deck on the south tower was still open so we could check out the damage from high above, I declined.

That decision saved my life, Because only a few minutes later I heard another plane coming from the south east, I was barely able to turn around before I saw a huge jumbo jet heading striaght for the south tower. BOOOOOM! Biggest fireball i’ve ever seen. nearly pissed myself. now i was scared, i knew it was an attack. When the towers came down you could only see smoke, they later evacuated our building, and a couple months later, I moved out of the city.

32. Thanks, I appreciate you sharing that a lot.
Two comments:
1) your timing seems off. There was only 17 mins between 1st and 2nd hit, but you indicate more like 35-40 mins.
2) the plane officially came from the southwest, and would have gone right over your apt, not from the southeast.

A few questions to clarify:
1) you saw this from your apt facing north?
2) you were really able to hear the plane was coming from the southeast, as opposed to the southwest?
3) when you say you "turned around", you meant you had turned away from the window and then you looked back?
4) did you see the plane enter the tower similar to the videos? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrceOXTNsQk
Or did you see the plane briefly then see an explosion?

Thank you for your patience. I am truly open to knowing what happened.

1. did you look over your right shoulder or over your left shoulder when you first heard it?
2. was the wind blowing from the east?
3. when you say you "turned around", are you saying you spun in a circle?
4. did you have eggs for breakfast that day?
5. when you saw the plane, did you think "someday someone will tell me I didn't see a plane?

Thank you for your patience. Will we ever know what happened?

40. Also thank you for your report . . .
First plane: "I sat up, and still dazed, heard the crash into the north tower.

couldnt see it,"

Though seems obvious you might simply have heard a plane which didn't actually

crash into the WTC tower -- while simultaneously explosions were set off.

Second plane: "... saw a huge jumbo jet heading striaght for the south tower. BOOOOOM! Biggest fireball i’ve ever seen."

Here again, you also don't say that you saw this plane go thru the WTC tower like a "knife

thru butter" --

Mainly, you're reporting again hearing a plane and seeing an explosion.

36. Oh please...
they are vicsims not victims. Nobody was even in those towers, they were evacuated prior to the no planes hitting the buildings.

ask balanz, he used to post here and probably checks his pm's occasionally. I hear he's been hawking septemberclues.com where this vicsim theory abounds.

In answer to the question posed though, I've never heard of any pictures being recovered and if there were any the FBI is probably in possession of them.

Hey, when do you think we will get to see that infamous Flight 77 actually going in to the pentagon?

why don't you call the family of one of the people who died in the WTC and tell them that their loved one was not a victim, they were a "vicsim"? Your "post" is patently offensive and is one of the most stupid I have ever seen on the subject of 9/11. You deserve nothing less than scorn from everyone else here.

Simple question: how could the towers have possibly been evacuated without EVERYONE in the vicinity witnessing it?

You should be deeply ashamed of yourself. I know I am.
