Is it fair to call the "9/11 truth movement" a fringe movement or....
would you only apply that to the "no-planes" and "mini-nukes" contingents?

1. The fringe group is the 16% of Americans who believe the OCT.

2. You are grossly misrepresenting what that poll concludes...
and I despise Bush. But it's ultimately dishonest to paint the poll as meaning only 16% of Americans believe we were attacked by al Qaeda on 9/11, etc.

3. Not dishonest at all.
Only 16% believe the Bush administration told the truth about 9/11 (also known as the OCT). It's simple as that.

4. Here's the conclusions from the poll....
- Many adults in the United States believe the current federal government has not been completely forthcoming on the issue of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, according to a poll by the New York Times and CBS News. 53 per cent of respondents think the Bush administration is hiding something, and 28 per cent believe it is lying.

Only 16 per cent of respondents say the government headed by U.S. president George W. Bush is telling the truth on what it knew prior to the terrorist attacks, down five points since May 2002.

Even your little catchall phrase (the "OCT") is grossly misleading. If I had been chosen to respond to the poll, I would have easily been within the 28% that thought the Bush adminstration was lying. But the question is lying about what and why it did so. It's easy to see that the Bush administration would want to minimize the fallout from 9/11 and make it look like they were as vigilant as they should have been. However, that doesn't mean that al Qaeda didn't attack us, that planes weren't used in the attacks, that the buildings were brought down by controlled demolition or that Bush/Cheney planned the damn thing.

The "9/11 truth movement" has developed the idea of the "OCT" as a "little black dress" that they can don when they want to avoid real debate.

5. News flash! You can disbelieve the OCT *and* believe we were attacked by al Qaeda
I'm certain there are many who suspect al Qaeda attacked us with the assistance, blessing, or knowledge, of some members of the Bush Administration and military. Whatever this poll actually indicates, it does prove two things:

1, the persistent, unsubstantiated, fiction about 9/11 truth being the "lunatic fringe" is a bald-faced lie.

and

2, the silent majority are a lot more intelligent than the belligerent minority in here.

6. Can you show me where I described the "9/11 Truth Movement" as...
Edited on Mon Nov-02-09 06:59 PM by SDuderstadt
the "lunatic fringe"? Also can you show me the breakdown of the participants that, in any way, demonstrates that "9/11 Truthers" are the "silent majority"? It's also a little silly to label those who merely disagree with you on the facts as the "belligerent minority". We cvan't help it if you don't have proof for your goofy claims, dude.

BTW, how do you feel about the "no-planes" and "mini-nukes" contingents of your "silent majority"?

7. You guys are the ones continually claiming only a small number of people don't buy the official tale
You love to blather on about how deluded (possibly not the exact word) we are down here in the dungeon... Of course there is rarely any proof of this, just your desire to be right and your blind allegiance to the OCT. By the way, dude, since you're so fond of playing the "show me where I used those exact words" game, please state my "goofy claims" in some specificity.

8. It's right in your subject line, dude...
As far as "blather(ing) on about how deluded" any of you are, I'd love for you to point to anywhere where I've said any such thing. I'd also love for you to point out my "blind allegiance" to the "OCT" and, while you're at it, why don't you definitively define what you mean by the "OCT"?

Dude, I don't see any conversation with you being civil or bearing any resemblance to reasoned debate. Why don't you just go and have a flamefest with yourself?

9. Ha!!!!! This OP is classic flame bate...
One of your insult banners masquerading as a "legitimate question". It's amazing how blatant you are... You guys never want any real answers from the other side because in your minds you already know all the answers. You just wanna set 'em up to knock 'em down. I love how on this one you ended up with your own foot clamped in your trap.

10. Dude...
the fact that I don't want to engage in a flamefest with you should be a priori evidence I am not looking for a flamewar. Run along now.

11. No one's buying it dude
You are the last person in this forum (maybe the world) who has a leg to stand on when it comes to civility and motive. Maybe we should take a poll on that.

you do this consistently. You take something someone actually said, reframe it until it bears no resemblance to what they actually said, then keep badgering them until an actual flamewar ensues.

I have said at least three times now that I am not interested in a flamewar. I don't know how much clearer I can make it. You don't like the OP? Fine. Alert the moderators and quit wasting our time here with your faux outrage, dude.

and honestly, I don't believe you are interested in anything but a flamewar. You just hate it when people don't take it lying down and flame back.
