War Criminal Kissinger resigns as head of 9/11 commission

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Facing questions about potential conflicts of interest, Henry Kissinger resigned Friday as chairman of the September 11 commission.

President Bush named Kissinger to lead the 10-member commission last month, dropping his longstanding opposition to an independent probe of the events leading up to the September 11 terrorist attacks.

In a letter to the president, Kissinger, 79, said he was stepping down from the appointment to remove any questions about even the appearance of a conflict of interest regarding his ties to several organizations and public figures.

An administration official said Kissinger also called White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card Friday afternoon to talk about his withdrawal from the position. The official would not say if the call was expected, but aides said the president was surprised by Kissinger's decision.

In his letter, Kissinger said he was prepared to submit all relevant financial information to the White House and an independent review, as well as to other members of the joint commission.

"It has become clear, however, that although specific potential conflicts can be resolved in this manner, the controversy would quickly move to the consulting firm I have built and own," Kissinger's letter said.

In Haig's presence, Kissinger referred pointedly to military men as "dumb, stupid animals to be used" as pawns for foreign policy.

The citation appears to be from "The Final Days" by Woodward and Bernstein in which they claim Kissinger said it in earshot of Alexander Haig.

10. from...5/21/92 Bilderberg Conference in Evian, France

"Today Americans would be outraged if U. N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all people of the world will plead with world leaders to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well being granted to them by their world government."

Do you have any proof of this "quote" other than some vague reference to the Bilderberg Conference of '92? Since the Bilderberg Conference, according to you CT types, is totally secret, how do you know what was supposedly said? In fact, couldn't anyone just make shit up because it is secret?

23. SINCE YOU INSIST
Edited on Tue Aug-19-08 07:18 PM by seemslikeadream
Such supine acquiescence by a fearful citizenry was, indeed, predicted by former President Nixon's National Security Advisor and Secretary of State Henry Kissinger during a 1992 speech given in Evian, France. "...the one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well being granted to them by their world government," he said.

25. That's interesting, SLAD....
Now Kissinger's words have changed from the previous quote, the one supposedly recorded by the "Swiss delegate", although I have shown in a previous post that no "delegate" from Switzerland even attended the meeting in 1992. Do you find that suspicious? What is Linda Heard's source for this quote? Interestingly, she doesn't say. Your research "skills" leave much to be desired, SLAD.

24. Let me make sure I get this straight.....
Edited on Tue Aug-19-08 07:25 PM by SDuderstadt
your "source" for this "quote" claims it was transcribed from a tape recording of said meeting taped (secretly, I suppose) by an unnamed "Swiss delegate"? You're kidding, right? WHO specifically recorded it? WHO, specifically, transcribed it? It was recorded by a Swiss "delegate"? That's suspicious wording right off the bat, inasmuch as people are not elected by anyone as "delegates" to the conference but, instead, are invited as attendees. Here's the funniest thing of all. Below is a link to a list of Swiss "delegates" ordered by the year they attended. You'll notice that none of them attended the 1992 meeting (or even the 1991 meeting). So much for your proof.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bilderberg_attendees#Switzerland

For another point, did you notice your source cites two different dates when this was supposedly recorded? So, which year was it? 1991 or 1992? Let's give the "author" the benefit of the doubt for just a second and assume they merely mistyped one of the dates. I'm going to assume they actually mean 1992 as the information coincides with the publicly available information about the time and place of that year's meeting.

Beyond all this, did you even bother, in any way, to fact check any of this? Did you bother to research who's behind a lot of the demonization of the Bilderberg Group? Try the John Birch Society and - this is a hoot - Phylis Schafley. Does it bother you in the least that you are promoting far right conspiracy theories? Do you even know the origins of the Bilderberg Group? Did you know it was first organized in 1954 to combat anti-americanism in Western Europe? Do you care about any of this at all? Does it bother you that you are a conduit for the infiltration of RW propaganda into the liberal movement?

Again, do you have any VERIFIABLE source for the Kissinger "quote" at all? Do you have anyone who can corroborate it? Somehow, I highly doubt it.

17. Bush & Kissinger Invade Beijing

Remember Nero fiddling while the world burns? Nero's got nothing on George W Bush. Hell, at least Nero was displaying a demonstrative skill. No, while Russia shells the Georgia capital, while the US is engaged in two military occupations, while unemployment numbers spike at home, Bush has remained in Beijing past the opening ceremonies to flirt with beach volleyball players, stare longingly at US softball star Jennie Finch and give pep talks to the US teams so they "go for the gold". (He was greeted by US athletes with applause described to me as "tepid.")

Bush then delivered a ham handed Sunday sermon where he said, "No state, man, or woman should fear the influence of a loving religion." (Do loving religions call for crusades? Just checking.)

Almost everywhere Bush has gone during the Olympics he's been shadowed by that paragon of love Henry Kissinger. These have been in so many ways, the Kissinger Games--a demonstration of how brutally efficient a market dictatorship can be. It's Pinochet's Chile with red flags and Kissinger has entered his personal paradise. NBC has done all it could to spread this gospel of the Kissinger games. As Ken Silverstein has reported, NBC's China expert, Joshua Cooper-Ramos, heads Kissinger's Beijing office (not that NBC has alerted us to this fact.) But NBC did take the time to pan the cameras to George and Laura when the Iraqi Olympic Team showed up. "You can feel the energy in this stadium, said the banally ubiquitous Matt Lauer. That's journalism for you under market Stalinism. IOC president Jacques Rogge called the Beijing games, "The gateway to the future."Yikes. I could use some of that loving religion right about now. Tomorrow maybe. I'll actually talk about some of the sports!
