Interesting issue raised in Griffin "9/11 Live or Fabricated" Interview

In speaking with Bonnie Faulkner on "Guns and Butter" about the NORAD tapes, David Ray Griffin suggested the possibility that the tapes were both real AND fabricated, meaning that the newly-released 'tapes' could have been a combination of actual recorded conversatons from the morning of 9/11 plus some added material engineered through 'voice morphing' technology.

Griffin claimed, correctly I believe, both that this technology has been around for some time (at least since 1999) and also that it can work so well that it is difficult or impossible for the common listener to know he's listening to a morphed voice.

We're all familiar with the effects of 'photoshopping', to the degree that any time a controversial picture circulates the first question everyone thinks to ask is: 'has it been doctored'? Have we reached the same point with audio recordings? I'd be very interested to hear from anyone with knowledge of this subject, particularly pertaining to the current state of the technology, the known extent of its uses as well as any information regarding public awareness of the technology.

2. I've mentioned this before, but

there is a company named Avid Technologies, which lent the FBI equipment so they could "make clearer" the photos of Atta and AlOmari on their way to Logan Airport. I have no doubt that those pictures were doctored and that it wasn't Atta in the pictures. This same company is a contractor for the DoD and they have extremely sophisticated, state of the art audio equipment as well. So I am sure this is at least a possibility. Avid technologies also merged with a company owned by the largest campaign contributer to Dick Cheney.
I think we think this is not possible; that it is too unethical, but these companies are often gov contractors and they will do pretty much whatever they are asked. It's their bread and butter

That aside from government contracts, which I'm sure they're very happy to fulfill, AVID is additionally the standard for video editing generally. Just saying. (The Military-Industrial-Entertainment complex at work.)

4. Even without this...

The Vanity Fair article shows evidence of NEADS being overwhelmed by the presumed Red Team of the wargames exercises with a variety of false calls. (Interesting perhaps how many of these are coming from Scoggins.)

The fallacy in its approach (aimed at disproving "conspiracy theories" around Flight 93 in particular, since this guy is the Chief Hollywood Propagandist on that subject) is in assuming a shootdown/bringdown would have necessarily issued from NORAD... as opposed to any other governmental or private body with a missile or other attack technology... and therefore the NEADS guy crying at the end that they didn't do it constitutes a final denial. (And please, never never mind the 10:06 seismic event!)

At any rate, 30 hours of chatter + ability to edit things out without need of voice morphing + writer too glad too interpret things his way = whatever conclusion said writer desires, with or without voice morphing employed on the tapes. I think cover-uppers would want to minimize use of such interventions (someone might think, hey I didn't actually say that, did I?).

Tangential question: Do you recall what the source is for Canavan (hijack coordinator on 9/11, though he happened to be in Puerto Rico "checking on systems there" leaving first-day Sliney as the man in charge) as the man who destroyed the audio tapes of New York TRACON? Because I think Griffin had tracked that down...

5. Missing NORAD tape

Something worth noting when reading the Vanity Fair "9/11 Live" article is that, according to the 9/11 Commission Report, "Because of a technical issue, there are no NEADS recordings available of the NEADS senior weapons director and weapons director technician position responsible for controlling the Otis scramble." (p. 459, endnote 120.)

I'd love to know what was on (or would have been on) those recordings.
