Popular Mechanics "9/11 Myths" Debunker Cancels Radio Debate
I thought this forum might be interested in this.

Two hours before he was to debate a member of "Scholars for 9/11 Truth" on a Seattle radio talk show, a research editor for "Popular Mechanics" magazine pulls out.

Seattle - The magazine Popular Mechanics, which recently released a book slamming the 9/11 Truth movement, cancelled a radio debate Tuesday between one of the book's contributors and a 9/11 truth activist just two hours before airtime. The debate, planned two weeks in advance, was scheduled to air on the Dori Munson talk radio program on KIRO AM 710, August the 22nd, at 1:00 PM.

Richard Curtis, PhD, an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at several Seattle area colleges and an active member of "Scholars for 9/11 Truth," was scheduled to debate Davin Coburn, a research editor at Popular Mechanics and one of the contributors to the book Debunking 9/11 Myths: Why Conspiracy Theories Can't Stand Up To The Facts, on Munson's radio show. Munson, furious about the last minute cancellation, said that the books PR firm was responsible for the decision and that none of the contributors to the new book would be allowed on the air with anyone from "Scholars for 9/11 Truth.">>>>snip

Munson, who cancelled the hour long segment altogether, was disgusted by the last minute pullout and questioned why the authors of Debunking 9/11 Myths "wouldn’t come on and address one of the conspiracy nuts." He also urged his listeners to "not buy the Debunking 9/11 Myths book because the people associated with it are pathetic weasels."

First they have John McCain write the forward to the book, now this.
I'm not impressed with the PR firm at all.

Unless there's something I don't know...

4. I thought it was interesting enough to post it here
Why wouldn't Popular Mech. want to debunk the other side? The public relation promotion of the book in a debate could prove the value of the their argument and make sales.

5. I wouldn't go that far, but i would say that Pop Mac is afraid of having
their book debunked before it's even on the shelves.

10. Considering the nature of some of the people the CTers like to quote from,
that term is better used to describe them... :puke:

13. I'm not afraid to answer questions
and back up my theories with information and data.

Ask me anything. I'd love to get invited to talk on the air or at a forum.

6. Coburn was scheduled to be in Indiana on the 22nd at 12:35
Indiana
12:35 p.m. – Bill Darwin (WTRC-AM, South Bend) interviews researcher Davin Coburn.
....

Washington
4:00 p.m. – Dori Monson (KIRO-AM, Seattle) interviews researcher Davin Coburn.

I suppose it totally impossible that a flight was delayed that day, eh?
At this point, it's a mystery.

8. Even more myterious......
Aug 23rd

10:45 a.m. – Total Information AM (KMOX-AM, St. Louis) interviews researcher Davin Coburn

Arizona
11:30 a.m. – Charles Goyette (KFNX-AM, Phoenix) interviews researcher Davin Coburn.

These guys must be flying all across the country at a huge expense.
It's amazing that a magazine like Popular Mechanics hasn't heard of the invention of the telephone!!!!!!!

As apparently, neither has greyl!!!!!!

That would solve the problem of an interview at 10:45am in St Louis, getting to the airport, flying to Phoenix, and getting to the studios of KFNX by 11:30. Even with the hour time difference it still appears to be highly mysterious!!!!

Are they not returning your calls?
Have you investigated the matter on your own?

to let the folks at WTRC-AM know what happened. He was 'scheduled' to be at the forum wasn't he?

And, how do we know the PR firm didn't give a full explanation to the appropriate people? So far, we have a story from 911blogger, where they spell the DJ's name incorrectly.

anything but sympathetic with the official US government 9/11 story.

12. You miss my point.
Instead of rushing to a judgement that the interview was cancelled because of 'fear of losing the debate', I'm just throwing some alternative noodles at the wall. (By no means do my noodles represent the entirety of possible noodles)

My suggestion in the previous post was that the PR firm may have heard bad things(Libertarian Kook) about the DJ and didn't want to be endorsed by or associated with him, even though Monson is on record as calling CTists "loons".

Again, I'm not arguing that my hypothesis is the true explanation, only that it's shortsighted to believe the interview was cancelled out of fear of losing the debate. We simply don't know yet, do we?

Has 911blogger covered the other shows that weren't cancelled?

His noodly appendage may not look kindly on such wanton acts of pastossing.

23. Thought..
I read somewhere he was going to follow Sheen on Entertainment Tonight with a member, unnamed, of the commission. Oh well, I don't really think there will ever be a pubic debate until the evidence, physical or circumstantial, is pretty much MSM type overwhelming. Thanks.
