So Condi never expected planes crashing into buildings????

(6:00 a.m.)

President Bush has just spent the night at Colony Beach and Tennis Resort on Longboat Key, Florida. Surface-to-air missiles have been placed on the roof of the resort. <Sarasota Herald-Tribune, 9/10/02> Bush wakes up around 6:00 a.m. and is preparing for his morning jog. A van occupied by men of Middle Eastern descent pull up to the Colony stating they have a “poolside” interview with the president. They are turned away for not having an appointment.

1. Obvious typo in the year in Paul's timeline
I assume that surface-to-air missiles have been the standard equipment of most upper class resorts for years. You know, with all these terrorists nowadays...

2. I wonder if this is the reason why Condi had to change her story?
The larger point being, they were willing to pull all stops in protecting this pResident, but the same level of protection wasn't happening in Washington, DC????

And another thing, why the Surface-to-Air missles there? Maybe because they knew about those Saudi's taking flying lessons down the coast a few miles in Venice?

3. Nah about the Saudi training. They wouldn't care about that.
It just never occurred to them to protect anyone or anything other than George.

And they knew al qaeda wanted to fly a plane into something.

Not one surface to air missile at the WTC. Or the Sears Tower. Or Golden Gate Bridge. Or......

4. I really have no clue
My working hypothesis is that there were really some Islamic guys, and perhaps they really wanted to do some kind of attack, but they were used as a set-up, their flight-lesson story engineered/staged. But in this case: would they really have to expect a danger from them? Rather not. Then the missiles are only part of the legend, so that they could indicate that there was a danger.
On the other hand, missiles for the President (but no warnings for the rest of the world) would suggest foreknowledge to the public, which would be damaging to the administration.

6. Is this SOP that this administration takes a SAM battery with
him on overnighters? If not the threat from the Saudi's learning to fly over in Venice, what would have driven this kind of security requirement?

I've heard that the WH has a SAM battery as part of their defensive security arrangements. Since this was apparently inoperative 9/11, was it because it was deployed with the President?

I hope this subject gets more airtime in the commission hearings, something is just plain odd with this administration's story and I'd like to know what the threat assessment was that required SAM's to protect Dimson, but nothing to protect our government.

7. Think maybe it might just be a possibility that...
the 9-11 events were self-inflicted? Almost impossible to believe, I know...but so are lots of other things. Gee, I don't know. I wouldn't tell anyone that I've had the thought, but truth is...I'll bet there's more than one person who has at least WONDERED if maybe, just maybe the 9-11 events were an inside job. You reckon it's possible?

8. Is it possible?
Ya think a small team of just 19 black-op operatives could arrange an act so tremendous? And why the administration would hide as many of the facts as they could from the American people? Is it possible that a war could be started before Justice was served? It is all quite unbelievable.

I can certainly understand why some might consider that it was an inside job. Really, who could not at least give the theory a good going over, especially since so few facts have been offered up by the main investigative insiders.

5. The purpose of the surface-to-air missiles
A deterrent to pesky, wayward pelicans?
