A quiz on Israel and Zionism in general....
This was posted in General Discussion, yet I was asked to go to the Israel/Palestine forum instead, so...here I am! I'm new to the Democratic Underground, so pardon me if this is far too broad/general, but take this as my introduction.

I am disgustingly pro-Palestine with no qualms about it. Remembering two years ago when I was a freshman in high school, my brother was doing some kind of report centering around this conflict. Everything he said that was "pro-Palestine," I simply dismissed as "untrue," and, later on, every news article that was sympathetic to the Palestinian cause I dismissed as "anti-Semitic." That is mere proof of the Israeli propaganda machine that has been cutting into everyone's heads for decades now.

I understand Israel has a right to exist. But I still ask myself, why does the United States and the U.N. support such a nation? Instead of berating it for its violations, why isn't action taken? If Israel HAD NOT killed Palestinians, HAD NOT become rich at the expense of the other population that lives in poverty, and HAD NOT acted with such arrogance, my opinion would be different. Instead, there remains the necessity to reform the state.

Back to the question...why does the United States take action? The only answer is that Israel remains a gate for Western imperialism. America sacrifices its moral principles for securement of power, refusing to act on the illegal settlements in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. And when Ariel Sharon pulls out of Gaza in order to annex the West Bank to build the "Greater Israel," he is called a "man of peace"!

Zionists have utilized anti-Semitism as a weapon for POLITICS, not SPIRITUALITY. They REFUSED to save Jews from Hitler's insanity because the destination of the deportees could not be agreed upon; Zionists wanted all Jews to be re-located to Palestine, but other nations and Germany refused. Thus, all funds for these Jewish-saving
programs were cut.

Now, unfairly, individuals start confusing the common Jew and the common Israeli with actions of an elite, pig government. What does the Israeli have to do with the actions of his government? Absolutely nothing. Yet because Palestinians can't appeal democratically for fair treatment, can't appeal democratically for funding, and can't do anything about their children being murdered and wives being raped and land being stolen, what other alternative is there but terrorism, as morally reprehensible as it is? One reading of Frantz Fanon's "Wretched of the Earth" will yield valuable information regarding the desperate mindset of colonized and exploited individuals such as the Palestinians.

So, in the footsteps of a "quiz" that has been created some years ago on Israel, I've made a similar one. See if your answers are the same as mine!

Arrogant Zionism.

1. Wow, talk about slander without facts.
If you were really pro-palestinian, what have you done to free the palestinians from the Arafat dictatorship. Palestinian women are treated as second class citizens, gays are killed, dissenters are killed and Arafat steals all the foreign aid which is meant for the palestinian masses. What have you done to help these palestinian people who are oppressed by their own leaders?

3. I also understand Israels right to exist
as it is a simple fact, but some facts from even before the creation of the state of Israel with regards to the intention of those who were moving politically to create such a state must be taken into account. In 1937 Ben Gurion himself stated that there was no way that the Zionist movement could ever accept a state of Israel which did not consist of the original biblical lands, and thus if the Zionists had to accept as a condition for the creation of the state of Israel that they would forever give up claim to the biblically delineated state of Israel, they would not accept or take part in that agreement. There are many speeches by Zionist during the pre-partition period that indicated that they never had the intention of accepting a Palestinian state that existed on that land, and while they would accpet such a situation temporarily, they would work towards taking any lands ceded to Palestinians from them. This seems to be the ideology at work now, and it ssem that this was alway the intent. I do not in any way oppose the existance of the state of Israel, but historically, those whose goal was to set up the state of Israel did seem to oppose the idea of any similar state for Palestinians if it encroached on the biblically defined borders of Israel.
