I find it very annoying that the only way that "we" the people can hear the voice of Helen Thomas is by downloading her statements made on Air America (not much luck with the download here either btw ...). :shrug:

Too bad we cannot tune into a news channel and hear her ask the questions as we have for the past 40+ years now. :grr:

I feel as though I am living in a surreal world. This world has become one that is controlled and manipulated by fear and hatred simulataneously, hence no more Helen Thomas.

We are not allowed to hear the voice of Helen Thomas with her questions any longer. We have truly become a deeply oppressed people in America. For this reason I am sad. :(

I am glad that Helen Thomas is still fighting and asking those questions and delivering messages anyway, no matter what. However, what a way to be treated after being a respected journalist since the days of JFK and before.

Not everyone has a computer with MP3, etc. to be able to hear what messages she is trying to convey.

So, I guess I say I am annoyed at best but I guess I should be thankful that I have a method to still seek and hear the truth.

8. A little clarification on Helen

She used to be a reporter. As such, she was front and damn center in every White House press conference.

She ain't any more. That's not just the doing of the White House. That's the result of the sale of UPI and he switch from reporting to becoming a partisan columnist.

While the airwaves might be filled with such folks, they lose the sacrosanct stature she once held. They also lose primacy of place in the press room.

Helen Thomas has every right to voice her dismay, disgust, and disillusion with the actions of Blair, Bush, and Sharon. She's more experienced in world affairs than all three of them and knows the reality of the situation on a global scale than each of them.

She is still a journalist in exactly the same way that folks like George Will are. She is a commentator who presents facts and then her own opinion on them.
