Palestinians, Israelis residents unite against barrier

Israelis of Mevasseret Tzion believe section if barrier to be built on land of eight Palestinian villages will spread hatred.

Israel's West Bank security barrier, designed to separate the two communities, has managed to unite Palestinian villagers and their Israeli neighbors in their struggle to oppose its building here.

Together, they brought the case to Israel's Supreme Court which agreed to suspend the work in this area northwest of Jerusalem, and should give its definitive ruling on Sunday.

Unlike their fellow-citizens who overwhelmingly support Israel's construction of a barrier which the authorities say is to prevent infiltration by attackers, Israelis in the small town of Mevasseret Tzion believe the section to be built on the land of eight Palestinian villages will not protect them but will spread hatred.
