Angry Palestinians bury raid dead
BBC News

Thousands of Palestinians have taken part in a mass funeral for victims of an Israeli raid that left 14 dead in the Gaza Strip early on Sunday.

Dozens of masked, gun-toting militants joined the mourners, who vowed to avenge the killings.

Ismail Haniya, a leader of the militant group Gaza, said the killings would "not pass without punishment".

"This massacre will only make our people stronger and more determined to continue our resistance," he told AFP news agency.

1. It's disgusting.
They turn these funerals into big block parties for Hamas, with green flag-waving and gun-toting. It's disgusting. If they want to change things, why not do it Gandhi's way?

3. Indeed
Palestinians must stand down and abandon violent resistance. Otherwise, their suffering must continue.

7. Ghandi's way?
If they did things Ghandi's way, the extreme 'pro-Israeli' crowd would still be calling them terrorists, and the same logic would lead to labelling Ghandi as a 'terrorist supporter'...

Violet...

32. like say standing in front of a bulldozer?
the thing is when they DO that it's completely ignored unless there is a westerner present - and if there is say Rachel Corrie everyone calls her a terrorist anyway - they can't win

4. If I were Israel
I would attack the "Dozens of masked, gun-toting militants," even at the funeral.

11. Also fewer terrorist casualties
Long ago, I would have started executing terrorists. If you are caught ATTEMPTING an act of terror, you would be interrogated, tried and executed.

28. Just for terrorists
Of course, there is no small number of such in the Palestinian communities. There are members of Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Tanzim, Fatah, etc.

'tried' - well, that's a step in the right direction. Guess that would have to lead to 'conviction' . Ding, ding, ding....

29. Notice I said "caught"
If we know you, I would not risk Israeli and Palestinian lives capturing you by mounting a major military expedition. But if your bomb doesn't blow up, I'd certainly help you along later.

Why bother with having a silly little trial, MLK Jr.? Just execute 'em on the spot. That's what Dr. King would have wanted.

13. My lord
The sentiments by most on this thread are quite disheartening.

I pity the state of Israel if its supporters are like this. What a moral vacuum.

The idea that some lives are more important than others...the mind boggles.

The lives of terrorists are less important than the lives of, oh, earth worms or toads.

You made a point and I countered it. Some lives are indeed worth more than others.

19. Bzzz. Wrong. Please play again.
YOU are the one that focused on terrorists. I did not make that distinction. In fact--I focused on the human factor and pointed out how folks on this thread have immediately jumped on "those killed are terrorists" bandwagon with their lack of distinction.

Sorry-- you...whoops--we all lose.

21. You lose
You said, "The idea that some lives are more important than others...the mind boggles."

I pointed out that some lives are indeed less worthy than others. I did NOT say those killed were all terrorists. I merely proved your point incorrect.

16. Funny, when Israelis say things like this...
"This massacre will only make our people stronger and more determined to continue our resistance,"
you get upset and call them butchers. What, no fair and balanced for you?
