Palestinian editor praises Maher attack

The editor went on to attack PA Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei for expressing his desire to meet with Sharon. "We wish the Palestinian officials, first and foremost Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei, will draw the conclusions from incident and halt his efforts to meet with the Israeli prime minister." He argued that such a move would "exonerate Sharon from his massacres and present him to the world as a man of peace."

Atwan's views stand in sharp contrast to angry reactions from the Palestinian Authority, which has strongly condemned the assault on Maher and promised to capture the culprits. However, Atwan's scathing attack on Arab governments and leaders was echoed on Tuesday by many Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, who said that the Egyptian minister deserved to be kicked out of the mosque. "Why didn't the minister come to see President Arafat in Ramallah," asked Saleh Shehadeh, a shopkeeper in Jerusalem's Old City. "The Arabs have no right to visit Jerusalem while President Arafat is under siege."

On Monday night, a delegation of Jerusalem Arabs went to the Egyptian Embassy in Tel Aviv to express their condemnation for the attack. Members of the delegation said they were asked by Arafat to apologize to the Egyptians.

Arafat has also asked the PLO's "foreign minister," Farouk Kaddoumi, to head a delegation of Palestinians that would visit Cairo to apologize for the attack.

2. Yes - a good kick in the ass of anyone who thinks Israel is the sole
problem. (Although I doubt if we'll find anyone like that ond DU.)

4. Israel is not the sole problem
that distinction should be split 50/50 between both dumbass sides.I just wish some people would stop acting like Israel isn't even a part of the problem.

5. Amazing
A mob attacking a man on a peace mission in a holy site gets praise from this idiot and his allies.

And since the "free press" inside the PA is a theory, this certainly didn't go out without PA government approval despite it contradicting what Arafat said in English...
