Hamas leader promises more bombings
December 13, 2003 - 10:05AM
--------------------------------------
A top Hamas leader told thousands of supporters at a rally in the Gaza Strip that members of the Islamic militant group would launch a new wave of suicide bombings against Israelis.
The warning came less than a week after Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qureia and Egyptian mediators failed to win an agreement from Hamas and other militant groups to halt attacks on Israelis, in an effort to broker a ceasefire.
In a show of defiance, Abdel Aziz Rantisi appeared in public for the first time in months, his first appearance since Israeli helicopter gunships and warplanes launched a series of strikes against him and other Hamas founders.
At the demonstration in Gaza's Jebaliya refugee camp, Rantisi appeared before a cheering crowd and promised his group would launch more suicide bombings.
...
...Rantisi said, surrounded by bodyguards and local Hamas leaders. "Jihad (holy war) is coming."
Palestinian suicide bombers have killed more than 430 people in attacks on Israeli targets during more than three years of fighting. Of the more than 100 bombings, most have been carried out by Hamas.
...
"I tell those that signed the so-called Geneva Accord document that the holy land of Palestine ... will never be for Jews. We are not going to allow anyone to sell out Palestine," he said.

5. If you don't see the majority
of moderate Palestinians that only want to live in peace then I'm really sorry. Then obviously you don't believe in peace ever happening if you really believe what you say, or John Locke for that matter. Too bad...

3. OK...
53% of Israelis and 56% of Palestinians. The Geneva Accords, by all accounts, was very generous to the Palestinians. Then why does the remainder not support the Accords? Simple – they hate Israel and do not want to "capitulate" to the “occupying power.” In any case, any recent poll will show that most Palestinians support the continuing jihad.

8. Uh...

  • Right of Return off the table
  • Demilitarized Palestinian state
  • Large sections of the West Bank annexed to Israel

That the Geneva Accords are more generous than other plans does not make it generous. Also, the Palestinians have been brutalized for years by Israel. Many do not trust the GOI.

I support the Geneva Accords, but until both sides can be seen to make efforts towards peace, support will not get much higher.
