Hamas says Jews must leave as truce talks fail
Hamas says Jews must leave as truce talks fail
By KHALED ABU TOAMEH

Palestinians on Sunday failed to reach agreement on a truce offer to Israel after three days of talks mired in arguments.
A top Hamas official told reporters that there would be no closing announcement to the failed ceasefire talks between terrorist factions in Cairo, Sunday.
According to chief representative for the Islamic Jihad, the talks failed due to disagreement on the level of ceasefire to be offered – whether it would be atotal or only limited to within the "green line."

Hamas founder and spiritual leader Ahmed Yassin has told a German magazine that a Jewish state could be established in Europe. In interview excerpts slated for publication on Monday in Der Spiegel, Yassin opposed a two-state solution in which a Palestinian state would coexist next to Israel.
...
Asked if there was no place at all for a Jewish state, he said, "They could set up a state in Europe." Yassin also rejected the Geneva Accord, which was hammered out between Israeli politicians and Palestinian representatives. "That plan is worse than the Oslo one, because it abandons the right of return for the refugees," he said.
...
"The statement will have no mention of refraining from attacks on civilians, cease-fire or authorizing Abu Ala (the Palestinian prime minister)" to negotiate with the Israelis, said Samir Ghosheh, head of the Palestinian Struggle Front, one of the more than a dozen groups that attended the Palestinian talks.
...
Along with the broad cease-fire, Hamas and other militant factions had strongly opposed giving Qureia authority to speak for them in any negotiations with Israel.
"We are not ready to give them (the Palestinian Authority) authorization to sign a new agreement," said senior Hamas official Mohammed Nazzal.

1. Nice to know they've got a place for the Jews to go
after they push them out of their homeland. Really nice to know.

2. To repeat a previous post on Yassin

Only an rightwing idiot who thinks that war is part of God's plan to ethinically cleanse the Levant of His enemies believes that this is possible. If that is God's plan, then I'll be the Devil's disciple and advocate diabolical doctrines like peace and democracy.

The rightwing idiots think that this this vision of the future is the way God intended it. However, the rest of us know that Israel is not going to be driven into the sea and that four and a half million Arabs living west of the Jordan River aren't going to just get up one day and waltz across the Allenby Bridge to satisfy Benny Elon and his minions. Any agreement among those of us condemned to live on this earth will be less than perfect; whatever that agreement is in its final form, it must begin with the reality that Arabs and Jews share the Levant and that each has equal rights with the other.

That is something entirely lost on Ahmed Yassin. May he receive his reward soon.

3. His reward?

May he receive his reward soon.

Would that be a 500lb iron bomb?

No, I agree with your assesment. Its completely ridiculous that these maximalists still exist on each side. You'd think after sixty years, they'd have come to realize that there's no way they're going to decisively defeat each other. Do the Hamas loonies really believe that the Jews are going to go away to live in Europe? Can they possibly be that stupid, or are they just trying to maintain the status quo - and thereby keep their place as powerbroker.

7. The vehicle
The vehicle that sends Yassin to his reward is of no importance. Let's just hope he gets it soon.

4. What this shows
is the regardless of the occupation, Israel will still be at war with Palestinan Terrorist groups.

The only hope for peace is for the Palestinains to end the terror themselves.

When Israel signed peace treaties with Egypt and Jordan the IDF stopped fighting those countries.

and please...no excuses. No rational person can say that the terrorism will stop any other way.

8. True
Both sides have their maximalists, as Mobuto calls them. Both sides must take responsibility for dealing with them.

Unfortunately, on both sides the maximalists are part of the leadership's base. The leadership on each side has neither the political ability nor will to marginalize the maximalists. This was highlighed over the weekend when the Palestinian truce talks failed, again showing the impotence of Palestinian moderates, and when General Sharon declared that Hebron will belong Israel forever.

These are not good signs.
