Israel won't become formal party to truce with Palestinians
Israeli officials said Saturday night that Israel
will not become a formal party to a cease-fire
agreement with the Palestinians, but that Israel
has made clear to the Palestinian Authority and
the U.S. that if there is quiet on the ground, it
will not carry out Israel Defense Forces soldiers
operations in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

"Should there be - for whatever reason - quiet, we
will adjust our security operations so that the quiet
remains in effect," the officials said.

Earlier Saturday, Israel rejected an agreement by
Palestinians meeting in Cairo to halt suicide bombings in
Israel without also agreeing to stop attacks on
IDF soldiers or settlers, a senior official
told Reuters.

1. From your article:
Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat's national security adviser, Jibril Rajoub, told the Arab-language magazine Al-Shark Al-Awsat on Sunday that the hudna (truce) does not imply that a military option has been ruled out. In the interview, he recommended that Palestinian organizations "learn from Hezbollah."

1. A country cannot agree to a cease fire when the entity with which said agreement is made can blame it on fill-in-the-blank terrorist group of which they have no control...sure, they don't.

2. "learn from Hezbollah"...how promising.

2. In essance
they want Israel to agree to discontinue targeted killings, but they will continue their targeted killings of civilians in the territories. Also attacks on the IDF. That's not a truce, that's signing lisence for terorists to murder (in the territories).
