Obama endorses Netanyahu as “man of peace”
Obama endorses Netanyahu as “man of peace”

By Chris Marsden
8 July 2010

President Barack Obama on Tuesday praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a man who “wants peace” and is “willing to take risks for peace.”

He did so following a White House meeting five weeks after the May 31 raid on the Mavi Marmara Gaza aid convoy, in which Israeli forces murdered eight Turkish activists and a dual Turkish-US national. The White House meeting was also on the eve of another round of Israeli settlement expansion on the West Bank.

On the day of the meeting, a report by the human rights group B’Tselem said that Jewish settlements with 300,000 people now control more than 42 percent of all land in the West Bank, including 21 percent of all privately owned Palestinian land.

In March, Obama had made a point of refusing to hold a press conference with Netanyahu after Israel announced the building of 1,600 more Jewish homes while Vice President Joseph Biden was visiting Jerusalem. A “partial freeze” on further building runs out in September, and Israel has made clear it intends further construction.

6. How utterly disappointing. I am incredibly disappointed. I can't think what
Edited on Thu Jul-08-10 05:56 PM by peacetalksforall
I might hear from anyone who could or would try to explain this to me as being an honorable action and position statement.

I am devastated.

Obama is losing me.

It certainly appears that Israel is leading the U.S.

This is the worst news I've heard today.

Here come the bulldozers
if not the nuclear bombs
if not the cluster bombs
if not red for blood everywhere
or if not for vaporization or melting skin instead of blood.

Is this where it stands for Palestinians, for peace seeking Israelis, for anyone trying to help the Palestinians.

How could he. How could he. This is not diplomacy. This is being held hostage.

Tell me this is a joke?

8. Bad headline.
It's true he was diplomatic about who Bibi is, but he didn't call him a "man of peace".

10. This just in
Obama endorses Lloyd Blankfein as a "modest man, living a simple life".

Obama endorses Wellpoint as a "selfless company, interested in the health of average Americans".

You can't say you weren't given a clue. He did have some nice things to say about Rick Warren during the campaign.

12. from the mouth of the great Mr. Dylan
Look out your window, baby, there's a scene you'd like to catch
The band is playing "Dixie", a man got his hand outstretched
Could be the FÃ…hrer
Could be the local priest
You know sometimes Satan, you know he comes as a man of peace.

He got a sweet gift of gab, he got a harmonious tongue
He knows every song of love that ever has been sung
Good intentions can be evil
Both hands can be full of grease
You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

Well, first he's in the background, and then he's in the front
Both eyes are looking like they're on a rabbit hunt
Nobody can see through him
No, not even the Chief of Police
You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

Well, he catch you when you're hoping for a glimpse of the sun
Catch you when your troubles feel like they weigh a ton
He could be standing next to you
The person that you'd notice least
I hear that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

Well, he can be fascinating, he can be dull
He can ride down Niagara Falls in the barrels of your skull
I can smell something cooking
I can tell there's going to be a feast
You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

He's a great humanitarian, he's great philanthropist
He knows just where to touch you honey, and how you like to be kissed
He'll put both his arms around you
You can feel the tender touch of the beast
You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

Well, the howling wolf will howl tonight, the king snake will crawl
Trees that've stood for a thousand years suddenly will fall
Wanna get married ? Do it now
Tomorrow all activity will cease
You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.
Somewhere Mama's weeping for her blue-eyed boy
She's holding them little white shoes and that little broken toy
And he's following a star
The same one them three men followed from the East
I hear that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

13. Support of the Israeli government is an important key indicator of erroneous conservative values
But there should be no surprises here, as Obama pledge his support to Israel during the presidential primaries.

Does he believe myths or that War is Peace?

19. Absolute bullshit!
I love the president, but it pisses me off when he insults my (admittedly limited) intelligence. There isn't a fucking thing I can think of to do about it though. At least the Democrats will take longer to completely kill off the planet. So I'll keep voting straight-ticket no matter how much of a chump it makes me. But then chimp and Cheney are law-abiding citizens, and the Republicans just need our love. Fuck! I wish I didn't even give a shit. Sorry about going off like that--especially with so little history of posting here.
