Obama delays moving US Embassy to Jerusalem

A 1995 U.S. law recognizes Jerusalem as Israel's capital and ordered that the embassy be relocated there. But the law also permits the president to delay the move for six-month periods, based on national security grounds.

Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush invoked the clause during their presidencies.

Obama notified Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton of his decision on Thursday. He first delayed moving the embassy in June.

2. It came from Congress, and they weren't morons.

It's classic politics. Congress gets to say it passed this law, which (supposedly) placates an influential minority. However, because of the exception, it doesn't actually do anything. Good PR at no cost. What's moronic about that?

Surely they must have had better things to do than create idiotic laws like that. Clearly they didn't, and telling me this is the way US politicians work doesn't change that they're a bunch of morons....

btw, I'm not sure if there is anyone they're trying to placate - I just think they're not particularly bright people...
