Settler suspected of multiple hate crimes
Authorities believe Yaakov Teitel of Shvut Rachel murdered two Arabs, planted pipe bomb which injured Hebrew University's Prof. Ze'ev Sternhell, as well as multiple explosive devices in other incidents. Lawyer: He's mentally unstable

<snip>

"Yaakov Teitel, 35, of the West Bank settlement of Shvut Rachel, has been arrested for allegedly carrying out a series of domestic acts of terror over the past few years.

The Shin Bet and police believe Teitel, a father of four who immigrated to Israel from the US in 2000, is the mastermind behind a string of attacks, including the murder of two Arabs and the attack on Hebrew University Professor Ze'ev Sternhell.

Teitel was arrested in Jerusalem in a joint police-Shin Bet operation on October 7. He is suspected of attempted murder, aggravated assault, arms offenses and racial incitement.

So far, Teitel has confessed to carrying out the following:

The 1997 murder of an east Jerusalem taxi driver

The 1997 murder of a Palestinian shepherd south of Mount Hebron

Placing an explosive device in the Ramallah-adjacent settlement of Eli in 2006 – the device was found and disarmed safely

Placing an explosive device near a Beit Shemesh monetary in 2007, which resulted in one Palestinian injured

A 2007 explosion which took place in the Ramot neighborhood in Jerusalem – a police cruiser was severely damaged, but no injuries were reported

Hurling explosives at a police car in June 2007 – no injuries or damage were reported

Sending a parcel bomb to a messianic family residing in Ariel, which resulted in a 15-year-old boy suffering severe injuries

Placing a pipe bomb near Prof. Zeev Sternhell's Jerusalem home in September of 2008 – Sternhell was lightly wounded.

2. Common tactics

Much of what we see as ethnic violence is incited by these nut cases.
Worse they are instigated by our politicians.
I think the Golden Mosque in Iraq is a perfect example of this.

3. No surprise that this religious scum fits the profile of Eric Rudolph, the Olympic Park bomber
And like all followers of religious extremism, he is a misogynist and a homophobe!

Yaakov Teitel, a 37-year-old American immigrant who lives in the West Bank, was detained last month after handing out leaflets condemning homosexuals.

<snip>

He had been giving out leaflets in the ultra-Orthodox neighbourhood praising an attack on a gay youth club in Tel Aviv in August that killed two people. A large weapons cache was later found at his home in the West Bank settlement outpost Shvut Rachel, where he lives with his wife and four children.

During questioning, Mr Teitel confessed to several crimes, saying he had emigrated to Israel to carry out attacks against Palestinians as revenge for suicide bombings which killed Israeli citizens, the added

>snip>

He was also suspected to attempting to bomb Israeli police stations and patrols because they provided security for gay pride parades, but not for the attack on the gay youth club, police said.

He is not a sabra, but one of many crazy Americans that have emigrated to Israel in pursuit of their own version of Manifest Destiny.

4. Netanyahu: 'Minority' of violent far-rightists must be stopped
The vast majority of law-abiding violent extreme rightists should not be blamed for the actions of a few whackos.

Following the arrest of a West Bank settler suspected of multiple murders and bomb attacks, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that Israel must fight the terror posed by violent extreme rightists, whom he termed a "marginal minority."

The Shin Bet revealed that it arrested Shvut Rachel resident Yaakov Teitel last month for allegedly killing two Palestinians, and attempting to carry out a number of terror attacks against homosexuals, leftists and a Messianic Jewish family in the West Bank.

"There is still among us a minority that is not prepared to accept democracy and are not prepared to accept the rule of law," said Netanyahu in a statementafter news of the arrest broke. "They do not represent the majority of the nation," the prime minister added. "They are a small and marginal group, but we have already seen the strength and damage of one murderer. We must continue to condemn the use of violence and to use all legal power against any attempt at violence."

5. Shin Bet suspects Teitel behind additional murders
<snip>

"Security forces investigating suspected Jewish terrorist Yaakov (Jack) Teitel, believe he may have committed a number of murders in addition to those he admitted in his interrogation.

Teitel, 36, of the West Bank settlement Shvut Rachel, allegedly planted several explosives and murdered two Palestinians. The Shin Bet security service is trying to prove he was behind other unsolved murder cases in Jerusalem and the West Bank, although he has denied them.

The Shin Bet and police are also trying to link Teitel to the terror attack on the Tel Aviv gay center Bar Noar, although his alibi for that night was checked and found solid.

Security forces suspect he is covering for another person whom he sent to carry out the attack."

6. Neighbor arrested in Teitel terror case
<snip>

"Security forces on Tuesday arrested another man in connection with the case of alleged Jewish terrorist Ya'akov Teitel.

Yossi Shpinoza, Teitel's neighbor from the Shvut Rachel settlement, was already arrested some two weeks ago after his association with Teitel came to light, but was released after only a few hours. He was rearrested on Tuesday on suspicion of involvement with Teitel's alleged crimes."

7. 'Jewish terrorist' suspected in murder blamed on Palestinians
<snip>

"Police suspect that Yaakov (Jack) Teitel, who has confessed to murdering two Palestinians and carrying out a long list of other, less deadly, terror attacks, also murdered two traffic policemen in the Jordan Valley eight months ago - a crime originally attributed to Palestinian terrorists.

Haaretz reported on Tuesday that police suspected Teitel of other murders in addition to those of the two Palestinians, but at the time, a gag order was still in place that prevented specifying which murders.

The policemen, Warrant Officer David Rabinowitz and Senior Warrant Officer Yehezkel Ramzarkar, were shot while sitting in their patrol vehicle near Moshav Massua. The subsequent investigation indicated that the assailant had lain in wait at the turn-off from the main road to Massua and did something to make them stop and roll down their window. He then shot them from point-blank range. No damage was done to the vehicle, and nothing was taken from it.

He then shot them from point-blank range. No damage was done to the vehicle, and nothing was taken from it.

Teitel denied responsibility for these murders, and it not clear what evidence the police have against him. But a police source said yesterday that Teitel's modus operandi in the crimes he has admitted to "precisely matches" that of the policemen's murder.

The police and the Shin Bet security service have long assumed that the policemen's killer acted alone, and not as part of an organization, making it difficult to get information about the crime. And while the police considered the possibility that the murder was criminal rather than the work of terrorists, three different lines of inquiry had drawn blanks, leaving investigators utterly in the dark.

Teitel has confessed to carrying out other attacks on policemen in retaliation for the police protection granted the Gay Pride Parade in Jerusalem in 2006: He planted an improvised explosive device in a police station in the settlement of Eli and also blew up bombs near two police patrol cars in Jerusalem."

8. Jewish settler charged with murdering Palestinians
<snip>

"A US-born Jewish settler was indicted on murder and other charges in a Jerusalem court on Thursday for allegedly killing two Palestinians and carrying out a string of bomb attacks.

Jack Teitel, a 37-year-old immigrant from the United States, was arrested in October on suspicion of murdering the men in 1997 while visiting Israel as a tourist. He is also suspected of being behind a string of bomb attacks since 2006.

"It's been a pleasure and an honour to serve my god," Teitel told reporters as he arrived at court.

"No regrets," said the settler who has been dubbed "the Jewish terrorist."

Teitel was indicted on a total of 14 charges, including two of premeditated murder and three of attempted murder, local media reported."
