Palestinian wounded during Na'alin protest
Week after Palestinian demonstrator is killed during Bilin rally, witnesses say another protester sustains moderate-to-serious head injuries after being hit by IDF tear gas canister

A Palestinian was moderately-to-seriously injured Friday after an IDF tear gas canister hit him in the face during the weekly rally against the separation fence in the village of Na'alin near Ramallah, witnesses at the place said.

...

Local Palestinians and protesters reported Friday that the IDF used massive force and fired large amounts of tear gas in an attempt to disperse the demonstration, although the protesters did not hurl stones at the forces.

1. The reason I post this is the talkbacks at the link, not the story itself

This story in itself isn't terribly remarkable - one more Palestinian civilian seriously injured by the IDF, among thousands. The reason I'm posting it here, with the link, is the talkbacks on the page.

They refute fairly effectively, I think, the claim that the Palestinians would be able to achieve their goal of a viable state by means of peaceful protest, if only they renounced violence.

Which is not to say that they shouldn't - I don't think they can achieve their goals by violence either, and the killing of civilians would not be justifiable even if they could. But claiming that non-violence would work for them is not, I think, a realistic assessment of Israel's likely response.
