Palestinians in Gaza launch Grad rocket into Ashkelon
A Palestinian Grad rocket exploded in Ashkelon on Saturday morning, according to Israel Radio. The projectile struck an open field in the city. Authorities are now searching for the precise landing spot, Israel Radio reported. No injuries were reported in the attack.

Decision-makers in Jerusalem said Israel would continue to launch pinpoint strikes against Hamas and other Palestinian militant organizations in the Gaza Strip, Haaretz has learned.

11. Of course it couldn't be that the title is deliberately misleading.
In order to assign collective guilt on the Palestinian people.

18. Correct. It couldn't be that.
You must be the kind of person who finds hidden sex messages in the ice cubes from liquor advertisements... I mean, really? You think that's what's going on here? For REAL?

First of all, if you were familiar with Ha'aretz you'd know that they're a very left wing Israeli paper. They don't ever do things like you're suggesting because it runs counter to their ideology. Regardless of that, all the title said was that Palestinians launched the rocket, which is entirely true. I doubt that anyone assumed this meant that EVERY Palestinian in the whole Gaza Strip got together to launch the Grad rocket as part of a massive group retaliation against Israel.

I mean, what would you have it say instead? "SOME Palestinians launched a Grad rocket..."? You may not be aware of this but newspapers follow strict rules dictating their verbiage and style. One of the reasons they do this is to defuse accusations such as your own that their wording was intended to somehow bias the reporting.

5. Odd how you didn't post the next two paragraphs
You know, the incriminating ones.

Israeli aircraft on Thursday wounded 10 Palestinians in the attempted killing of a Hamas operative in southern Gaza. Palestinian militants launched two Qassam rockets and one mortar round into Israel, resulting in no casualties or damage. Hezbollah, meanwhile, has vowed to strike Israeli targets, and Cypriot authorities Wednesday detained an Iranian arms ship that Israel believes may have been en route to Hezbollah.

The decision to carry out further pinpoint strikes against Hamas emerged after consultations between the security cabinet and top Israeli defense officials. The hostilities were necessary to let Hamas know that strikes against Israel would not go unanswered, one source said.

I guess Hamas took exception to Israel picking and choosing when it is acceptable to break the tahdiya?

9. Hezbollah, meanwhile, has vowed to strike Israeli targets, and Cypriot authorities over "that ship"
...and Cypriot authorities Wednesday detained an Iranian arms ship .....

but. don't they mean 'alleged' arms ship ?

I knew when that ship sailed in late '08 it would be treading water longer then it should.

15. I didn't understand that sentence at all
I don't understand Hizbollah making that kind of statement at all. Israel would not welcome a new operation into Lebanon, either. The Cypriot incident is all around odd. First the "alleged" armament shipment was meant from Iran to Hamas, reported by JPost. Now, it is for Hizbollah from Iran, reported by Haaretz and a few others. Odd.

10. Odd how you were able to click the link and read them for yourself
Or read the article about that incident that was already posted here.

Do you think that Hamas was justified in launching the Qassams?

Can you tell me what the terms of the ceasefire are?

14. Considering no one agreed to them and it was just declared, no
Israel never asked Hamas or even told them, they just declared a unilateral cease-fire on January 17th. But 4 days after they declared that, the Israeli Navy shot at and injured 7 Palestinians who were fishing off the coast. Later that day a militant group launched I believe 2 or 3 Qassam's into Israel, injuring no one (It might've been Hamas- I forget). A few days later, Hamas set a bomb by the border checkpoint and killed one Israeli soldier and wounded 2 others. In retaliation, Israeli bombed the northern part of the Strip. A few days after that, Israel bombed the Rafah crossing on the Gaza side, trying to destroy tunnels again. A few days after that, this article mentions that they tried to assassinate another Hamas operative and ended up hurting civilians but not killing their target. Feel free to fill in any parts that I missed.

17. Exactly
There is no actual ceasefire in place.

Where this is all heading I have no idea.

Whoever is shooting those Qassam rockets seriously ought to stop doing so, regardless of whatever rationale they perceive they have.

That cannot possibly improve the situation for anyone.

13. The point is to continue the conflict as long as possible
Peace is not a possibility.

Eternal war is all the Palestinians know (or at least their militants, leadership and the tens of thousands of supporters; those that aren't supporters are killed anyway).
