Peres' intent was that Israel would lead the way in pushing for peace and welcomed US involvement. He wasn't bragging about dictating US policy. Peres is very much the diplomat.

In fact, if you look at the source article, you'll see a bunch of comments from the right blasting Peres for wanting peace.

Olmert, on the other hand, was just being a blowhard.

That's what I took exception to. Israel's methods of "fighting terrorism" have very little to do with achieving peace, IMO.
