'Hamas rounding up, torturing Fatah activists in Gaza Strip'
Edited on Mon Jan-19-09 06:30 PM by Lithos
Hamas militiamen have rounded up hundreds of Fatah activists on suspicion of "collaboration" with Israel during Operation Cast Lead, Fatah members in the Gaza Strip told The Jerusalem Post on Monday.
Hamas gunmen in the Gaza Strip.

They said the Hamas crackdown on Fatah intensified after the cease-fire went into effect eary Sunday morning. The Fatah members and eyewitnesses said that the detainees were being held in school buildings and hospitals which have been turned by Hamas into make-shift interrogation centers.

Hamas has also renewed house arrest orders that were issued against thousands of Fatah officials and activists in the Gaza Strip shortly after the military operation started. A Fatah official in Ramallah told the Post that at least 100 of his men have been killed or wounded as a result of the massive crackdown by Hamas. He said that some of the Fatah activists had been brutally tortured by Hamas militiamen.

5. "Jailers"?
Where is it you think they should go? Transjordan?

If Gaza is where they want to stay, it's home, not jail. So what re-location did you have in mind?

15. I think when you are locked in your home, it becomes a jail.
Which would you prefer "Ghetto keepers?" "Concentration camp guards?"

Let me know.

6. Huh?
I was referring to an internal power struggle between two competing groups (Hamas and Fatah). Though not the origin of the term itself, it's a reference to the SS's "Operation Hummingbird" attack on the SA intended to wipe out the leadership and functional capability of their rival.

Hamas is taking this as an opportunity to consolidate power and marginalize a rival.

8. Which is why all 51 Fatah prisoners are now dead.
Amazing how, in that Israeli attack, not one of them was merely wounded. Amazing aim, those Israelis.

9. I don't understand what you're getting at...
Edited on Mon Jan-19-09 03:16 PM by hughee99
Is my analogy not appropriate? I'm not talking about Israel at all, just that Hamas seems to be making the most of this opportunity to get rid of a rival.

Is this NOT the case?

4. Any Palestinians who did collaborate with the Israeli Occupation Force should be punished
to the fullest extent of the law.

There is no lower life form on this earth than a collaborator.

Interesting though, that there aren't reports of this in the Arabic press, much of which is pro-Fatah..... hmmm....

25. Here is a report on this from the Maan News Agency (Palestinian)
Excerpt:

A Monday statement from Fatah spokesperson Fahmy Az-Za’reer, however, indicated that Fatah has evidence that Hamas forces placed hundreds under house arrest, and incapacitated more than 80 Fatah men by shooting them in the leg.

He said that there were 16 incidents where Hamas fighters executed Fatah-affiliates during the Gaza fighting.

No one cares about Muslims killing each other!

After all, 11 million Muslims have died at the hands of their brethren, but we are supposed to focus on the MOST EVIL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD-Israel! Instead.

Just these two paragraphs:

"Two Hamas officials, Salah Bardaweel and Fawzi Barhoum, accused Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and his "spies" in the Gaza Strip of tipping off the Israelis about the movements of slain Hamas interior minister Said Siam, who was killed in an IAF strike on his brother's home in Gaza City last week."

"Fahmi Za'areer, a Fatah spokesman in the West Bank, revealed that at least 16 Fatah activists had been executed by Hamas in the past few days. He strongly condemned the Hamas clampdown on Fatah and warned against a bloodbath in the Gaza Strip."

10. On a side note, can anyone explain this sentence to me.
"In a more recent incident, Hamas gunmen shot and killed 8-year-old Hisham Tawfik Najjar after storming his home and beating his four sons - all Fatah activists."

If I'm reading this right, 8 year old Hisham Tawfik Najjar had a home and 4 sons who were all Fatah activists. I'm I missing something or does this sentence not make any sense?

Maybe the number or maybe they meant brothers instead of sons.

26. Maan News Agency: Fatah announced that it had proof Hamas members attacked its affiliates
Ramallah – Ma’an – Fatah announced that it had proof Hamas members attacked its affiliates during the fighting in Gaza, killing 16 and injuring 80.

Fatah sent a call to “Hamas and its members” asking that they cease attacks on Fatah affiliates following the end of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

Israel is the external threat and Fatah is the internal threat.

39. Actually, If You Actually READ The Article
Abbas was already engaged in talks with Hamas to see if they can form a unity government, but then the bushtards (which you seem awfully quick to defend BTW) had to meddle with dreams of an attempted coup.
