1. Given the state of things in Gaza, Hamas fighters may not have gotten the word
There is no C&C left with Hamas at this point. Hopefully that is all that turns out to be.

INN is a very slanted source, sort of like Faux News squared. That said, short bulletins like this are pretty hard to spin.

2. True, Sir
And some might disregard it if they had. Israeli forces need to show restraint at this point, and employ the absolute minimum of force necessary to deal with local contingencies.

4. It's because Olmert has decided to keep troops in Gaza
As I've said, this "ceasefire" was a PR move. Think of it as the military equivalent of McCain suspending his campaign. Hamas is going to keep fighting if there's an occupying force, it's completely inevitable. Especially when Olmert has also said that Hamas not fighting still wouldn't be cause for removing those troops.

5. If this continues, Hamas will come out the loser
Its sort of a 1 free day kind of thing they can blame on lack of a functional C&C system

3. Tel Aviv/Gaza - Israeli troops came under fire by a group of Palestinians
Edited on Sun Jan-18-09 02:22 AM by DogPoundPup
in the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday, only hours after the beginning of a unilateral ceasefire declared by Israel, an Israeli army spokeswoman said. The troops had informed Israeli armoured units and air force which then shot at and hit the Palestinians, said the spokeswoman. She added she had no information about further incidences of violence.

I sure hope they have footage so we know for sure what "under fire by a group of Palestinians" really translates to.

6. A valid question given that a substantial portion of IDF casualties have been friendly fire
Question for you: How would the IDF know if it was Hamas or not? There are several ways. Not all of which would be on video

7. How would the IDF know if it was Hamas or not?
Go home to Israel where no one would have any reason to "fire at them" since their leaders called a cease fire.

p.s.-I'm not playing your "guerilla war" game.

9. So Hamas will not "fire at them" in Israel?
they have committed to no rocket attacks if Israel withdraws?

11. Of course not
Hamas remains committed to its goal of complete destruction of Israel, to be replaced by a theocratic Muslim state.

No Jews allowed.

8. Israel National News or Arutz Sheva is a far right web site
Generally considered the voice of the Israeli settler movement.

10. They are like Al-J, but for short real time bulletins of events that is tolerable.
since they would be verified shortly by other sources. Op-Ed pieces are another matter.
